This August, we saw over $175M in fundraises in the coding bootcamp space! Republicans in the US shared what they would like to see in an expanded Pell Grant program, and OPM giant, 2U, had some growing pains as it shifts to focusing on edX. Skills-based hiring continues to be top of mind for employers, so we saw plenty about how coding bootcamps are helping people land in-demand tech jobs without CS degrees. This July, the bootcamp industry heated up with a $10M fundraise, an acquisition, and a $2B rumor. Happy Summer! Tech hiring is at an all-time high despite news of layoffs and hiring freezes. We caught wind of four workforce developments for aspiring bootcampers, and three major fundraises in the coding bootcamp sphere amounted to $395M. There was talk about next steps for OPM since the release of the GAO report, and a new lawsuit concerned with job guarantees at an online bootcamp.
