"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." Romans 12:1 NKJV. In the Old Testament, slain (dead) beasts were presented as sacrifices. But we are no longer under the Old! We live in the New Testament where Paul BEGS us to present our bodies as living sacrifices. If it's not dead, that means the sacrifice still has use and purpose. Thus, as living sacrifices, we are asking the Lord to USE us! But it's not enough that we use our bodies. Bodily exercise without the proper heart posture and attitude is of no avail. Lifeless (heartless) performance of going through the motions is not us sacrificing our life. Our bodies-- whole souls and bodies, all the powers and faculties, and members of our bodies--are to be used as our reasonable service. Let's talk about truly living sacrificially.
