“Prayer is talked about more than anything else and practiced less than anything else.” And yet, for the believer, prayer remains one of the greatest gifts and most powerful weapons our Lord has given us outside of Salvation. Why then is it the least practiced?

To have a more powerful and effective prayer life, you must first have a profound understanding of your spiritual identity and, second, take the correct position in prayer.

We are so excited to kick off Season Two of Covenant Conversations! We thought it was only right to start this new season off with prayer. So join us as we go "Into the Deep."

Though Paul learned to be content with material things (Phil 4:11), he was never content with spiritual achievements because the goal was to be like Christ (something we can never achieve.) Though impossible, it is still a goal we as Christians ought to strain towards. To strain means to make a strenuous or unusually great effort, a severe or excessive demand on strength, resources, or abilities of something or someone. But, to put a demand on anything, you must already have it. Thus, we must build up our strength (endurance), resources, and abilities for the time when God puts a demand on us. 

Think of running a marathon. If you don’t properly train and put your body through strenuous activity, you can pull a muscle or affect your morale. When God puts a demand on us, we don't want to spiritually or naturally hurt ourselves or others. To avoid harm, Train for the Strain. That involves preparing ourselves naturally (physically, emotionally, relationally, financially, etc.) and spiritually. Listen to the Season Finale, so you can identify if you are in training season or straining season. Learn how to train properly, so you don’t harm yourself during the strain. Join the conversation!

To sack a city, you attack the gates. If you have the keys to the gate, you have authority over the city because gates are dominion places and provide access. In the bible, we see the many functions of “Gates”: for protection, as social hubs, where judgments and key decisions were made, where the prophets delivered messages, and where the economy was controlled. If we consider these physical gateways as representations of spiritual gateways, we see how essential it is to actively possess our gates and not let them slip into the hands of the enemy. Allowing the devil to control our gates gives the enemy access and dominion over our entire lives (economically, socially, politically, etc.) In today’s episode, we discuss the importance of possessing your gates AND taking back the gates (territory) the enemy stole/ has current dominion over. The title speaks for itself. How serious are you taking the things of God? How watchful are you over your assignment? It’s easy to get comfortable, there’s the temptation to be lazy or slip back into old habits, but we have to remain attentive because the enemy is prowling around seeking whom he may devour. The devil is WAITING for you to slip up. Don’t get caught slippin’! Join the conversation!

Peace isn’t a destination; it’s a state of being. Worry, fear, and anxiety tend to take up space in our minds, rent-free, but we must relinquish it all to God by focusing on Him. He already promised us peace! It’s up to us to receive it. Join the conversation!

Once you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are saved by the blood and adopted as God’s child, His kin! But our kinship shouldn’t stop there. Kinship not only means relation by blood but is also defined as a sharing of characteristics. As Christians, we should seek kinship with Jesus not just by the blood but by character.
