As we jump into Romans 4, Paul is going to relate a truth that will revolutionize the Jewish religion: what we have with God has always been by faith. Amazing! In order to do that, he starts with the first patriarch, Abraham, building his case to reveal that it has always been the work of God in our lives and our willingness to have the faith to believe and follow. Romans 1 and 2 establish that everyone is suffering with a sin problem. So how do we respond to this news? Do we continue to try and make excuse or rationalize it? At the beginning of chapter 2, Paul turns his attention to those who have God's Law and don't live by it. What makes us God's? Is it a birthright? Is it an outward gesture of devotion? Do we earn it?
