Coventry Music Podcast — Series 2, Episode 7

Can AI Be Creative? Music, Technology & The Future

In this episode of the Coventry Music Podcast, Zeke and Millie explore one of the biggest talking points in the creative industries today — Artificial Intelligence.

Can AI really be creative? Could it ever replace musicians? Is it simply another tool to help artists, or does it change what creativity means altogether?

The pair discuss how technology is shaping the music industry, the role AI is already playing in songwriting, production and content creation, and whether human emotion and experience will always have a place in music.

They also talk about a new challenge they've been set by Coventry Music — writing their own articles for local music publication HotMusicLive and discuss why it's important for young people to develop their own opinions and voices within the creative industries.

As always, the conversation is honest, thought-provoking and full of ideas about where music might be heading in the future.

Whether you're a musician, music fan, parent, teacher, or simply curious about the future of creativity, this is an episode you won't want to miss.

In this episode, Zeke and Millie look back on their experiences performing in Christmas concerts and reflect on what it really feels like stepping onto a stage — the nerves, the excitement, and the buzz when it’s all over.

They also explore something really interesting: their different musical philosophies.

🎼 Zeke is a more traditional musician — focused on technique, accuracy, and getting things “right,” but sometimes finds confidence and self-expression a challenge.
🎶 Millie, on the other hand, is more creative — exploring songwriting, creating music, and improvising freely in the moment.

Together, they share the pros and cons of both styles, why each approach matters, and how learning music isn’t just about notes — it’s about finding your own voice.

Plus, we look ahead to what’s coming up at Coventry Music over the next few weeks, and why now is a great time to get involved in lessons, groups, choirs, ensembles, bands, and live performance opportunities across the city.
