With the regular season over, some teams will move onto the playoffs while for other teams, their season is over. Devin Whitlock and Belle Vernon easily took care of McKeesport to win a conference title while Montour was able to beat Chartiers Valley to earn a spot in the playoffs. Seneca Valley’s win over North Allegheny gave the Raiders the #3 seed in 6A, and Taylor Allderdice even defeated Westinghouse in the City League Championship. Duquesne undergraduate student Brentaro Yamane had the opportunity to talk to WTAE news/sports anchor Andrew Stockey about the evolution of how news and sports in the city of Pittsburgh have been covered in the past 26 years. Andrew has been a part of the WTAE since 1995 and he has enjoyed every second of his job.

Serra Catholic football player Pharoh Fisher and Steel Valley football player Jay Burt join the podcast together to talk about what their teams are doing to prepare and try to win this matchup between Serra Catholic and Steel Valley in Week 9. Both teams are currently undefeated this season and the winner of this game claims the WPIAL Class 2A Allegheny Conference title. It’s also senior night for Steel Valley.

As Upper St. Clair kicked a game winning field goal against South Fayette, before that, Aidan Besselman’s TD catch late in the fourth quarter made it on ESPN’s “You Got Mossed”. Brooks Eastburn rushed for a 29-yard TD to help Pine-Richland beat Kiski Area 33-27 while Beaver Falls came back from behind to beat Neshannock. That’s just some of the stuff that happened in Week 8! Duquesne undergraduate student and WDSR host Brentaro talks to Hampton football player Matt Dematteo. Hampton is currently 8-0 on the season as the team is two wins away from having a perfect regular season record. Matt does it all by playing quarterback, wide receiver, defensive back and kicker. He discusses what Hampton’s football team has done so far to remain undefeated and what his team’s goals are for the rest of the season.

Franklin Regional scored 27 unanswered points to beat Latrobe 41-40 while Jashon Spencer’s TD catch in West Allegheny’s 28-0 win over South Fayette was featured on ESPN’s “U GOT MOSSED!”. Wyatt Ringer scored 4 touchdowns to help Beaver beat Chartiers Valley 35-28 in overtime and Robert Dickerson had a big impact helping North Hills beat Pine-Richland 13-7.

In a week filled with good games and lightning delays, one of the biggest takeaways from Week 6 is that Penn-Trafford’s football team was able to beat Gateway 15-10. So much smack talk had been talked before this game that the Warriors made sure they would get the last laugh and protect home turf. Aliquippa was able to travel on the road and smack Chartiers Valley while the Mt. Lebanon trio of Joey Daniels, Alex Tecza and Eli Heidenreich was able to beat a Central Catholic team filled with Division I players.
