The Card Wars scoreboard: Caleb has spent $1,482 of Cousin Sal’s money and Paul has spent $2,600; Paul has had the biggest score of the competition so far pulling a Prizm Basketball Orange Ice Lebron James card that was going for $1k before his injury. Caleb bought a Bo Bichette card as well as a Donovan Mitchell card while there. The guys also talk about card show etiquette and how sellers need to know their price or put a price sticker on it.

Paul’s strategy of buying packs/boxes has shown more risk but now he may pivot into buying individual cards as we get closer to the National Card Show Convention; Derek Jeter going into the Hall of Fame – he’ll be another strong buy that weekend.

Paul and Caleb recap their Instagram live from the Kentucky Road Show card store; as Jimmy the owner took them into his vault to show off his incredible collection including an incredibly rare ’84 Star Jordan. Jimmy opened up a $1,900 box of Topps Definitive and had some monster pulls, plus Cousin Sal, Caleb and Paul bought packs for fans that answered trivia questions correctly and one fan landed a 2020 Bowman Spencer Torkelson rookie card.

Now that Card Wars has begun, the guys have started to spend Cousin Sal’s money with Caleb spending $682 and Paul is at $930. Caleb typically doesn’t invest in players on bad teams but picked up a Jorge Soler card with the thought the KC Royals star may be traded at the deadline. Paul, on the other hand is high on Mets’ infielder Jeff McNeil and bought some of his cards, plus pulled an Oscar Robertson and Joel Embiid autographed card which he thinks could go up with a deep playoff run.

Then the guys discuss the start of baseball season as Caleb is very high on Luis Robert as well as Braves pitcher Ian Anderson. Paul says Freddie Freeman reminds him of Jim Thome and that Gold Glove winners deserve more respect.

Caleb talks about his strategy of buying lots of cards as well as ebay etiquette when it comes to making an offer. Plus the guys tease taking Card Wars to their first card show and spending more of Cousin Sal’s money as the competition continues!

Paul explains how he originally got into collecting, how his family opened a sports card store and how his mom had the foresight to buy 12 boxes of 1986-87 Fleer basketball when everyone else was buying baseball.

Caleb and Paul discuss the booming card market and it’s up and downs over the past twenty years; how PSA grading changed the game, how the current rookie classes are pushing the market and how Yao Ming and Dirk Nowitzki helped the global market.

Caleb is a card savant and thinks Paul will be the underdog in this competition, but Paul says he will be using all his baseball contacts – and already has his eye on Mets prospect Jeff McNeil.

Caleb talks about his dream card, the Michael Jordan 86-87 Fleer rookie card and the rise of it since the early 90’s. The guys talk about “eye appeal” and Paul hates when guys are lazy about signing autographs.

Perk and Gina open with De’Aron Fox’s hot stretch and why he was snubbed as an All-Star this year.

We dive into our March Madness picks for the Elite 8, and Perk and Gina are on opposite sides of the Houston vs. Oregon St. game. Gina picks Oregon St. to cover against the spread for the seventh time in a row as an underdog while Perk is rolling with his home-state Houston Cougars because of their strong guardplay.

Then Perk sides with another team in Texas and picks Baylor to cover in the first half against Arkansas. Perk says Baylor has been more consistent than Arkansas, who has had to play from behind too often this season.

Perk backs his championship-pick Gonzaga to both win and cover against USC. Perk thinks USC’s Mobley brothers aren’t prepared for the physicality and athleticism of Gonzaga.

Lastly, Perk picks Michigan to cover and beat UCLA, choosing Michigan to round out a Final 4 of all Elite 8 favorites with Baylor, Gonzaga and Houston.

Gina then looks at the women’s side of the bracket. Gina likes the over in a matchup of heavyweights Baylor vs UConn and then picks Charli Collier’s Longhorns to cover against South Carolina.

Perk and Gina gear up for this weekend’s March Madness games and lock in on their favorite picks for the Sweet 16. On Saturday, Perk likes Loyola Chicago to cover against Oregon St. in what could be a blowout. Then, Perk picks 15-seed Oral Roberts to cover against Arkansas, but thinks Syracuse’s Cinderella story comes to an end against a dangerous Houston team.

Then on Sunday Perk thinks Creighton has underrated talent but won’t be able to take down top-seeded Gonzaga. Gina thinks the Zags have the easiest remaining path to a championship, and Perk picks Gonzaga to win it all.

Gina likes Florida St. to upset Michigan, but Perk is on the other side with former big-man Juwan Howard and the Michigan frontcourt. Then, Perk picks Alabama to cover against UCLA and thinks the Crimson Tide could jump out to a lead fast. Finally, stay away from USC vs Oregon in a matchup between the Pac-12’s top-seeded teams.

Perk and Gina give out their Final 4 picks with Perk taking Gonzaga, Michigan, Baylor and Houston while Gina goes with Gonzaga, Florida St., Baylor and Syracuse.

We wrap up with a busy NBA trade deadline where Perk thinks a ton of teams improved. While the Bulls may not make a run this season, Perk thinks adding Vucevic will pay off for Chicago in the long run. Gina thinks the Nuggets deadline moves aren’t enough to beat the Lakers or Clippers, while Perk says adding Gordon makes Denver a serious contender in a wide-open Western Conference.
