Honor doesn't just flow up but it also flows down and to the side. In life we have authority over us, we have those that we have authority over, and we have those that we serve with. If an "overseer" or pastor is expected to have a good reputation with outsiders, shouldn't the church follow his lead? Yes! When we honor everyone in our daily lives we will have a good reputation in the community, Christ will be exalted and souls will be saved.

When we have a desire to live a victorious life that honors God we must consider what His Word says in light of the honor we should give to our authorities. The church must operate on a different level than the world. Unfortunately, the church has taken on the mentality of the world when it comes to honor for our authorities. Many believe that just because a person is a politician he/she is free game for our slander and hatered. The Word of God confronts us on these issues.

Before we can live with any honor for any authority we must first honor God. Once we have considered Him to be precious, once we have considered His Word to be weighty, then and only then will our lives be lived out in honor to God. FYI - the references to the twinkie in this message are connected with something that took place during the announcements, earlier, in an unrecorded portion of this service. It was something that involved some humor so I occassionally pulled out the twinkie for a smile :-)

What is honor and what effect should it have on the believer's life? Honor seems to be something that is fading in the American culture. The purpose of this series is to dig into what the Word of God says about honor Him, the authories He has established, our community leaders as well as what honor should look like in the home.

It is common for people to avoid certain situations because they don't want to just simply deal with it. One of those situations is the fact that one day we will all have to stand before a Holy and Living God. God desires for us to pull our heads out of this world for a moment and consider eternity.

God has a plan for our lives and sometimes that plan includes trials. God uses our difficult circumstances to mould and shape us into His likeness.

The promises of God are not only for us today but alos for our seed.
