Down at the ranch...

** spoiler alert ** I received this ARC from the author through InstaFreebie.

As I've come to expect from her books, the characters are sweet and I got my HEA.

I've read several books by the author and realize there are limitations when writing a short story. Unfortunately there were several instances where gaps in the plot detracted from the overall telling of this one.

When one of the characters is released from jail, how did he have money for a motel for a month? He only had $10 in the wallet that was returned to him. Did he eat during this time? He was unable to find a job. Where was his family?

Why did the uncle come to stay at the ranch? And for a month? Was this an annual vacation for him and his family? It sounded more like a plan to move there permanently...

Having grown up in a farm the tending to the animals took precedent over everything. Even eating. Especially a sit down breakfast first thing in the morning.

I still enjoyed the book but these discrepancies bothered me.

I liked the story, but the emotions expressed when family was about arrive was off, somehow...seemed more feminine, than masculine. Other than that, it was a good story.

Was highly impressed with the story and it seems to tell a personal story of overcoming fear of being Gay or who you are and learning to love a person who loves you and taking a stand against bigotry and hate even if it from family
