This week I'm chatting with Stephanie Najjar about the relationship between power, capitalism, and spirituality.
I found Stephanie on TikTok (a big thank you to the algorithmic Gods) and signed up for her course on Woo Woo Capitalism, which was a very thorough deep dive into toxic spirituality. Stephanie talks to us this week about how to sharpen your critical thinking skills so that your spiritual values feel empowering and aligned with a bigger social picture.
As y'all know, I grew up very devoutly Mormon. After deconstructing the doctrine I knew that the church didn't align with my core values and decided to take a step back, which has sent me down a path of exploring all the different methods of spiritual practice.
I'm now living in Los Angeles, the woo woo capital of woo woo and I've started to notice red flags within the spiritual community here as well. Stephanie's courses have really helped me understand from a more academic level how power, capitalism, and spirituality can all be enmeshed.
I've really enjoyed getting to know Stephanie, and I think you will too! You can find her on TikTok (@itsclassicsteph) her courses can be found here. I highly recommend signing up for a course!
