  • AI and ChatGPT: Enhancing Coaching with Smart Technologies
    Episode Transcript

We've heard a lot about AI and Chat GPT and how they're changing the world, but what do they really mean for coaches? Well, in this podcast series called Coaching in the Age of AI and Chat GPT, we are exploring the mashup of coaching and these technologies. We're diving into the world of AI and Chat GPT and how these technologies are changing the landscape of coaching. And they are, and I believe, for the better, not for the worse. In this episode, we'll be demystifying AI and Chat GPT for coaches and providing a clear understanding of the basics you need to know in order to fully leverage these technologies for the benefit of your coaching business. As coaches, it's important to stay up to date with the latest technologies and tools that can help us improve our craft, better serve our clients, but above all, build a profitable and sustainable coaching business. And that's what we're going to be doing today. So get ready to learn, bust some misconceptions and discover the benefits of AI and Chat GPT in coaching. Let's dive in.

Thank you for tuning into this segment of our podcast where we'll be talking about the basics. In this segment, we'll be exploring a few fundamentals of AI and Chat GPT to ensure you're equipped with the knowledge you need to embrace these tools effectively unless you're coaching under a rock. Many of you have heard about AI and Chat GPT, but may not fully understand what they are or how they work. That's why in this segment I'm going to provide a brief overview of these technologies and how they can be used in your coaching practice. So let's start with a little history and gain a simple understanding of what AI and Chat GPT actually are. Did you know that the modern idea of AI as we know it today really began in the 1950s with the development of the first computers? Yep. And in the 1960s, the field of AI research really took off, with scientists developing techniques like rule-based systems and decision trees Things that we use in our business. At least I do.

Now fast forward to the 1980s. Machine learning became a popular technique, allowing computer programs to learn and improve on their own. Remember the movie Irobot? And in the 2000s, with the rise of big data and advances in computing, AI picked up speed. And now AI is used in a wide variety of applications, including voice assistants hello, Siri and Alexa, and self-driving cars. In fact, I just read an article about a self-driving bus in London. Wow. Yep. That's all.

AI. Technology. At its core, AI refers to computer systems that deal with the creation of intelligent machines that can perform tasks that typically require human, “brain functioning” intelligence. Now, Chat GPT, on the other hand, is a specific application of AI that uses natural language processing NLP for short, to create conversational agents. And I love the term conversational agents that can respond to text-based inputs, which are known as prompts in a human-like way. In other words, Chat GPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot that can have conversations with people, but also create content in a humanlike way to engage with people in a natural, human-like way. Pretty wild, right? Now, let's talk about how AI and Chat GPT can be used in coach. As a coach, your time is valuable.

By leveraging the power of AI and Chat GPT, you can automate your business processes, provide personalized coaching, and grow your coaching business into a much more profitable one. These technologies can be used to automate repetitive tasks such as scheduling appointments and sending out reminders. They can also be used to analyze data and provide insights into your client's behaviors and preferences. Not only that but AI and Chat GPT can help with lead generation, which is so big for continued business growth. And lead generation is one of the top issues my clients have when they enroll to work with me. AI can help you find and attract potential clients who are looking for your coaching services. With AI, power tools and Chat GPT, you can identify and target your ideal clients based on their interests, demographics, and behaviors. Did you know that? The most important thing to remember, however, is that AI and Chat GPT are not meant to replace the human element in the development of your business or the coaching of your clients.

These technologies are simply power tools that can help you grow and manage your business more efficiently and enhance the coaching experience of your clients. At the end of the day, coaching is and will always be about human interaction and connection. And that's something that can't be replaced by any technology, whether it's AI or Chat GPT. So, now that we have a basic understanding of AI and Chat GPT, let's move on to our next segment, where we'll dispel some common misconceptions about these technologies in coaching. See you there's. Welcome back to the Crack the Coaching Code podcast. I'm your host, Chareen Goodman, and in this segment, we're going to address the top three misconceptions about AI and Chat GPT that coaches may have. Now, I understand that some of you may have some preconceived notions about these technologies, so I want to take a moment to clear the air and set the record straight.

So the first misconception I want to address is that of AI replacing coaches. I know this may sound like something out of a science fiction movie, but let me assure you that this couldn't be further from the truth. As a coach, you have uniqueness, made up of insights, knowledge and experience that is personal to you. It's what you bring to your clients. While AI technology has come a long way, it will never be able to replace the personal touch and expertise that coaches offer. And you as a coach must be clear on the value you offer your clients and your ideal future clients. AI is simply a tool to assist coaches in their work. The same goes for Chat GPT.

It is simply a tool to assist coaches in their work. When implemented and used properly, it can provide helpful suggestions and insights to support your coaching practice. But again, it's important for coaches to recognize that they can't let go of the steering wheel. Coaches play a vital role in understanding their clients' unique situations, providing the emotional support and accountability that their clients need to achieve their coaching outcomes and goals, and helping their clients navigate complex challenges. That's what you get paid to do, not Chat GPT. These technologies can never and should never replace the personal touch and expertise that coaches offer. Now, on to misconception number two that AI and Chat GPT are impersonal. This one is understandable since we're talking about machines here.

I get it. But this is a misconception. In fact, Chat GPT is designed to learn from its interactions with you and your clients. It is trained by you, and it just may surprise you to know that AI technology can actually be very personal and in some cases, is much more personal than you. Go figure. As I just mentioned, Chat GPT is designed to learn from its interactions. And given the right prompts, inputs, and training, it can become that great conversational agent for you as a coach and with your clients, providing personalized responses in your unique brand voice. It can even pick up on subtleties in language and tone, allowing it to tailor its responses to the specific context of the conversation OMG all day long.

So it's not impersonal. It's actually very personal when trained, or shall I say coaches properly. Lastly, misconception number three AI is unreliable. Now, while it's true that AI technology is still advancing, chat GPT, for example, is built on a robust and reliable platform that is constantly being improved and updated. With proper implementation and use, chat GPT can be a powerful tool for coaches looking to enhance their coaching practice. It's all about learning to work with the technology and leveraging it to its full potential. This is not a set-it-and-forget-it tool. Your human involvement is required.

So, coaches, it's time to shift our mindset about these misconceptions. AI and Chat GPT are not here to replace us or take over our jobs as coaches. Instead, they can be valuable tools to enhance our coach practice and improve our client outcomes and our business overall. And with the right understanding and application of these technologies, we can use AI and Chat GPT to create a more personalized and effective coaching experience for our clients while building the coaching business of our dreams. Okay, there you have it. I hope this helps to clear up any misconceptions you may have had about AI and Chat GPT. Stay tuned for the next segment where we will talk about embracing AI and Chat GPT to enhance your coaching practice. Welcome back, amazing listeners.

You're tuned into the Crack the Coaching Code podcast with your host, me, Chareen Goodman. In this segment, we're diving into the exciting realm of how coaches can embrace AI and Chat GPT to take their coaching practice to the next level. As coaches, we're always looking for ways to enhance our coaching practice. And one of the most exciting technologies that can help us achieve this is AI. AI, or artificial intelligence, is transforming various industries, and coaching is no exception. Now, I know what you might be thinking. How can AI really make a difference in my coaching? Well, let me tell you, my friends, it's a game-changer. So let's explore some of the benefits of using AI in coaching.

And man oh man, there are so many. First up, let's talk about increased efficiency and productivity. And when I say a game changer, especially for the solo coach, this is what you need. Who doesn't want that, right? AI tools can be a game changer when it comes to streamlining your workflow. It's like having a personal assistant that never gets tired or needs a coffee break. AI tools can help you increase your efficiency and productivity. This leads to less burnout. These tools can automate your repetitive tasks that eat away at your precious time, allowing you to focus on what you do best, and that is coaching.

By automating repetitive tasks and streamlining your workflow, you as a coach can manage your time more effectively and focus on what really matters building a profitable business and helping your clients achieve their goals. So say goodbye to the never-ending paperwork and hello to more productivity and profitability. Now, that's just number one. But that's not all. Now, here's a real gem for you. With AI, we're talking about personalization and customization on a whole new level. It's like having a coaching genie that knows exactly what you need and delivers it on a silver platter. Ulala.

This can help coaches tailor their coaching approach to each client and provide a more effective coaching experience. So picture this AI analyzing data and providing personalized coaching recommendations based on your client's unique needs and preferences. Here's your coaching assistant who knows your client inside and out. Tailored guidance and support that resonates deeply with coaching individuals. Now, that's the recipe for coaching success. But there is a caveat here. Just remember, your knowledge, insights, unique experience, and perspective are necessary to bring the human element into your coach. Never forget that.

Now, this one here is a real game changer, using AI for improved accuracy and objectivity. I know. But let's face it, we're all human. And sometimes, God forbid, we might unknowingly let our biases and errors sneak into our coaching. Think of AI in this area like having a wise owl sitting on your shoulder. Harry Potter, anyone that offers you the most objective advice imaginable. But AI? Really? Yes, really. It's time to say goodbye to human biases and errors.

AI brings improved accuracy and objectivity to the coaching arena. As in coaching, it's all about objectivity. And this can be especially helpful when dealing with sensitive or complex issues where objectivity is key. AI can help you eliminate human biases and errors by eliminating biases and errors with the use of AI can help coaches make much more informed decisions and provide a better coaching experience for their clients. It's sort of like having that trusted sidekick who keeps us on track and helps us to keep it real when it comes to coaching. Now that's some serious coaching superpower right there. My caveat with this one is that you don't let yourself get lazy. You take the lead.

Don't let AI lead you. Now, here's the last one I want to give you today. Yes, there's one more, so brace yourselves for this one. This one, too, is a real gem. With the use of AI, you can actually enhance your personal innovation and creativity when it comes to being a coach. Yep, you heard it right. Perhaps the most exciting benefit for coaches is that AI can inspire coaches to develop new coaching approaches and methodologies that leverage the power of AI. Be a game changer.

Be a change agent. This can lead to enhanced creativity and innovation, allowing coaches to stay ahead of the curve and deliver even better results for their clients. Believe it or not, AI can actually inspire us to push the boundaries of coaching. Who said coaching can't be innovative and cutting-edge? AI opens up a massive world of possibilities for cutting-edge development of new themes that leverage the power of AI technology. Can you imagine having a playground of possibilities where you can tap into your inner coach genius and explore new horizons? So why not let your imagination run wild and see where AI takes you on this coaching adventure? So my incredible coaching friends. Embrace AI and chat GPT with open arms. These technologies are here to amplify your coaching prowess, making you more efficient, personalized, accurate and creative. Let's ride this wave of AI innovation and explore the new horizon together.

Now follow along with me into our final segment, where we'll wrap up this exhilarating episode on AI and Chat GPT in coaching. Don't go anywhere, because we have some parting words of wisdom coming your way. This final segment brings us to the end of another exciting episode of the Crack the Coaching Code podcast. I'm so glad you can join me for episode six of the Crack the Coaching C.O.D.E.™ podcast. Now, I'm sure you've heard of the terms AI and ChatGPT, but in this segment, let's take a few minutes to get a better understanding of what they are. We know it's been a hot topic lately and I don't want you to miss out on the hype and buzz that's been going around. You've heard the terms for months, right? But maybe there are a few of you who might be wondering what exactly is AI in ChatGPT. Well, AI stands for artificial intelligence and it refers to the ability of machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, which is slightly different from machines that perform tasks that typically require physical human effort, like robotics. I like how someone phrased it.

AI is the brain and robotics is the body, which means that AI includes things like learning, reasoning, and problem-solving. ChatGPT, on the other hand, is a specific type of AI technology that's used for natural language processing. In a nutshell, ChatGPT is a program that can basically understand and generate humanlike language. So why is it important for coaches to understand these technologies? Well, there are a few reasons. First of all, AI and ChatGPT can be incredibly useful tools for coaches who want to save time, increase efficiency, and personalize their coaching process to better meet the needs of their clients. That's a win. For example, imagine being able to analyze large amounts of data about your client's behavior and preferences, and then using that information to tailor your coaching approach to each individual according to their unique needs. Amazing.

Or imagine having a virtual assistant fueled by ChatGPT that can handle administrative tasks like scheduling appointments and sending follow-up emails so that you can stay on top of things and can focus more on the coaching itself. Cool, right? Another reason why it's important for coaches to understand AI and ChatGPT is that these technologies are becoming more and more prevalent in our daily lives, both business-wise and personally. I'm certain that there are AI tools you are using that you aren't even aware that they are using AI technology like Grammarly, which I love and use every day. There are AI tools from voice assistants like Siri, Bixby, and Alexa to chatbots on websites and social media platforms. We are, in fact, interacting with AIpowered tools all the time. This is not a new occurrence. By understanding how these technologies work and how they can be used in coaching, coaches can stay ahead of the curve and provide more value to their clients. And isn't value the goal? So that's a brief overview of AI and ChatGPT and why they're important for coaches to understand.

In the next segment, we'll dive deeper into the specific benefits that coaches can gain by using these technologies in their coaching practice. Welcome back to the Crack the Coaching C.O.D.E.™ podcast, where we are diving into a new series called Coaching in the Age of AI and ChatGPT. In this segment, we'll be exploring the many benefits that coaches can gain by integrating AI and ChatGPT into their coaching business. As I mentioned in the previous segment, AI and ChatGPT can be incredibly useful tools for coaches who want to save time, increase efficiency, and personalize their coaching to better meet the needs of their clients. But now let's explore each of these benefits in a bit more detail. First, let's talk about saving time as a coach you probably have a lot on your plate. You need to schedule sessions, prepare for coaching sessions, follow up with clients and prospects, and manage your business. Overall, this can be overwhelming, especially if you are a solo coach.

But with AI tools and ChatGPT, you can automate many of these tasks and free up more time for coaching. For example, you can use a virtual assistant-powered AI to handle administrative tasks like scheduling appointments and sending out personalized follow-up emails. This alone can save you hours of time each week that you can use to focus on serving your clients and growing your coaching business. We all know that running a coaching business takes a lot of time to build and grow it into a profit-making machine. And if you can find a way to get back some hours, it's well worth the investment. Right? Well, here's where AI and ChatGPT come in. Second, let's talk about increasing efficiency. It's time to stop doing so much of your work manually.

By using AI and ChatGPT, you can streamline your coaching processes and make them more efficient. For example, you can use AIpowered tools to analyze large amounts of data about your client's behavior and preferences. This can help you tailor your coaching approach to each individual client, thereby increasing the likelihood that they'll achieve their individual goals. You can also use ChatGPT to create personalized coaching programs for your clients. Now imagine that long gone are the days of cookie-cutter coaching. With ChatGPT, you can analyze your client's goals, preferences, and behavior and create a coaching plan that's tailored specifically to their needs. This can help you provide a more personalized coaching experience, which can lead to better outcomes for your clients. Finally, let's talk about personalization for a moment.

One of the biggest advantages of AI and ChatGPT in coaching is their ability to personalize coaching to better meet the needs of your clients. But there are many other ways that you can use AI and ChatGPT to personalize coaching. For example, you can use AIpowered chatbots to provide on-demand coaching support to your clients. This can help them stay on track with their goals even when they're not in a coaching session with you. You can also use AI to analyze your client's progress and provide feedback in real-time. This too can help your clients stay motivated and make progress more quickly. So these are just a few examples of how AI and ChatGPT can benefit coaches by saving time, increasing efficiency, and Personalizing Coaching the technologies can help you provide a better coaching experience for your clients while you grow your business. Ultimately, the key to successfully integrating AI and ChatGPT into your coaching practice is to start small and experiment.

Nothing happens overnight and nothing beats a miss but a try. Just remember, though, AI and ChatGPT is not a replacement for human coaching. They're tools that can help you provide a better coaching experience for your clients. It's very important to strike a balance between technology and real-life human interaction in the coaching process. Here it is in layman's terms. Despite having a fancy vehicle, you are still required for driving it responsibly. When you integrate AI and ChatGPT into your coaching practice, make sure you're still providing that human touch, personal interaction, and connection are still vital to the coaching process. Use these tools to enhance your coaching, not to replace it.

Welcome back to another exciting segment of the Crack the Coaching C.O.D.E.™ podcast. Now, in this segment, we're going to take a closer look at the future of coaching using AI and ChatGPT. As we've talked about in previous segments, these technologies have already had a significant impact on the coaching industry. But what does the future really hold for you as a coach? What emerging trends and technologies should coaches be aware of? And how can coaches prepare themselves for the changes to come? One emerging trend that we're seeing is the use of virtual reality, or VR for short, and augmented reality AR for short. These technologies have the potential to revolutionize the way we deliver coaching by providing immersive, interactive experiences that simulate real-life situations. For example, a coach could use virtual reality to simulate a high-stress business meeting, thereby allowing clients to practice and improve their communication skills in a safe and controlled environment. Similarly, augmented reality could be used to provide real-time coaching feedback during a sports game, for example, or even in a fitness session. Another trend that's out there is the integration of AI and ChatGPT into wearable devices.

This means that clients could have access to personalized coaching and feedback in 24/7 real-time, whether they're at home, at work, or even on the go. For example, if you are a health or fitness coach, a wearable device could use AI to analyze a client's posture and provide feedback on how to improve it or use ChatGPT to provide motivational messages and coaching support throughout the day. Now, of course, with these emerging trends and technologies come new challenges and real ethical considerations. For example, how do we ensure the privacy and security of client data when using wearable devices or in virtual reality environments? How do we maintain the human touch and connection in coaching when relying heavily on AI or ChatGPT? These are important questions that coaches need to consider as they navigate the future of coaching using AI and ChatGPT technologies. So how can you as a coach prepare for the changes to come? One important step is to stay informed and educated about emerging trends and technologies. Continual learning is key. You can do this by attending conferences and workshops, reading up on industry publications, and networking with other coaches to stay up to date on the latest developments. I personally have an upcoming summer school program for coaches and consultants that want to learn how to leverage AI and ChatGPT in the coaching practice.

Another important step in this process is to be open-minded and adaptable. Technology in and of itself can sometimes be a bear, but it's important as a coach to embrace new technologies and approaches and be willing to experiment and try new things. Remember, coaching is a constantly evolving field and it's important to stay flexible and adaptable in order to stay relevant, effective, and above all, profitable. I can only imagine that the future of coaching with AI and ChatGPT is going to get more exciting and be full of potential. By staying informed and adapting to these new trends and technologies, as a coach, you will be able to continue to provide effective coaching support for your clients and grow your business in the process. Well, my friends, that's a wrap for today. I hope that what you heard on today's podcast has piqued your curiosity about how you will embrace and use AI and ChatGPT as a coach. • Protecting Yourself and Your Business: The Power of Self-Care for Coaches
    Episode 5: Transcript

Thanks for tuning into the Crack the Coaching C.O.D.E.™ podcast, hosted by yours truly, Chareen Goodman, Founder of Crack the Coaching C.O.D.E.™. I'm so glad to have you listening today. As coaches, we all share a passion for helping others achieve their goals, right? But in the current state of the coaching industry, many coaches, I believe, find themselves constantly hustling, juggling client demands, marketing their business, and working long hours, all while neglecting their own well-being.

In this episode, we're going to talk about a topic that's often touched upon but often neglected when it comes to actually putting it into practice, and that is self-care. We'll discuss why being the boss requires a different mindset than operating your business as if you are an employee, and how incorporating self-care into your business practices can help you build a successful coaching business. As coaches, we operate in a challenging and demanding business environment. We often work tirelessly to help our clients achieve those big, hairy, audacious, and transformational goals that they want. But in the process, we may forget to take care of our own big, hairy, audacious, and transformational needs.

We can easily fall into the trap of constantly doing things for others and neglecting ourselves. If you're running your own coaching business, you know how difficult it can be to switch off and take time out for yourself. You may feel that you must always be available for your clients, work long hours and hustle to make ends meet. But this approach is simply not sustainable and can lead to burnout, stress, and ultimately a decline in the quality of your work which will impact your money and your success. We know it, we see it, and it's true. The coaching industry is rapidly growing and more and more people are entering the market each year. And with increased competition, it can feel as if it's becoming harder to stand out and build a successful coaching business. And let's face it, it probably is. But that's why it's more important than ever to prioritize self-care so you can compete effectively.

By the end of this podcast, you'll have an increased awareness of the importance of self-care in building a successful coaching business. A shift in mindset from a doing mentality to a being mentality so that you are more empowered to take control of yourself while building your business. So my friends, let us make ourselves comfortable. Grab a refreshing beverage, equip yourself with a pen and paper, and let's dive in.

Hi everyone. I'm thrilled to have you joining us for the second part of our podcast today on how to take care of yourself while running a coaching business. In this segment, we'll be talking about how important it is to take a step back and focus on being instead of always doing. When we talk about doing versus being, I'm referring to making a mindset shift from being task-oriented to being focused on your identity as a boss and business owner. Doing versus being is a concept that can be applied to all areas of life, including running a coaching business. It's about stepping into the role of the leader and creator of your own path, rather than just following instructions or doing things the way you've been taught. But what exactly do we mean by doing versus being?

Well, a doing mindset is all about completing tasks within a given timeline. This mindset may have worked well when you were in a traditional employment setting, but it's not what you need when it comes to running your business. A being mindset means taking charge of your business and creating your own way that works for you. It means being the boss and making decisions that align with your values and your goals. You're not simply following a set of instructions, but rather you're using your creativity and intuition to shape your business. As a coach, it's essential to shift your mindset from doing to being. If you want to build a successful coaching business, that means you need to stop focusing solely on completing tasks and start being the boss of your own business. In other words, creating your own way, taking charge of your business, and being confident in your decisions. That includes making the decision to make space for self-care. How can you build a wildly successful coaching business if you are burnt out and exhausted all the time?

So how can you shift your mindset from doing to being? Well, here are a few suggestions that I think will help you make this mindset shift. First, it's important to establish a clear vision for your business and your life. Having a clear vision can make all the difference. So ask questions what do you want to accomplish? How do you want to impact your clients? How do you want to operate your business, et cetera? Once you have a clear vision, you can begin to make decisions that align with your vision. Then be confident in your decisions, trust your instincts, and know that you have the skills and knowledge to make the right choices for you and your coaching business. Second, you have to prioritize your self-care. The bottom line is that you have got to take care of yourself as a business owner and whatever is required to do that in a healthy and productive way, of course, should be baked into your business plan. Hey, I get it. As a coach, you're used to taking care of others, but it's crucial to prioritize your own well-being.

This could mean setting aside time each day for a morning meditation or perhaps reading scriptures, exercising, or whatever else helps you that you need to do to revitalize and recharge for your business journey, not the sprint. The third thing to cultivate the being mindset is to be willing to take risks and embrace any resemblance of failure. As a business owner, you'll face challenges and setbacks, but these are opportunities to learn and grow and course correct along your entrepreneurial journey. Don't be afraid to try new things and take risks in order to move your business forward. Experiment, explore to find that enlightenment that you're looking for, and taking the time to allow yourself to care for yourself in the process by making this mindset shift from doing to being can really position you to be mindful to take charge of your business and create your own path to your desired success. It's your business and you should be the one leading the way.

I also get that making this mindset shift can be challenging, but it's crucial to building a successful coaching business. By shifting your mindset to focus on being the boss and taking ownership of your business, you can create a path that's uniquely yours and lead your business to the vision of success that you can uniquely call your own.

Welcome back to our podcast about self-care for coaches. In this segment, we'll dive into the big kahuna… the importance of self-care for coaches who are running their own coaching business. As coaches, we know that our role is to help others to live better lives, and we spend a lot of time doing that. But in that process, we often forget to take care of ourselves. From this point forward, let's make a commitment that it's time to prioritize our well-being so we can be the best version of ourselves for our clients.

So what exactly is self-care? Self-care is a practice in and of itself. It's the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, particularly during times of stress. You can practice self-care in many ways, such as eating right, drinking water, exercising, meditation, or simply taking a break from your daily work as a business owner. Now, let's talk about why self-care is so important.

I want you to imagine a coach named Connie who never takes a break and works long hours every day in her coaching business. One day, Connie wakes up feeling exhausted and totally unmotivated to do the things she knows she needs to do to build and grow her coaching business. She begins to realize she's burnt out with all the hustling she's been doing. But after listening to a podcast like this. She now realizes she needs to take a step back to prioritize her well-being or she will not survive as a business owner. After taking a break, she creates a self-care routine and actually implements it. And in just a few weeks of regularly scheduled self-care, Connie starts to feel more energized. She's focused and productive. She's able to show up as the best version of herself for her clients, leading to better coaching sessions, more clients, and ultimately more money and success in her business. Connie is actually happy.

Wouldn't you like this to be your story?

Well, let's take a look at some ways you can incorporate a bit more self-care into your life and have a transformational story too. First, it's important to create a self-care routine that works for you. This may include scheduling time off for activities that you enjoy, such as going for a walk, reading a book, or taking a bubble bath. This routine should be tailored to your individual needs and your lifestyle. Second, it's important to set boundaries and stick to them. And I mean really stick to them.

This means setting limits on the amount of work you take on and making sure you carve out time for yourself. For example, you could set aside one day a week where you don't work at all and spend the entire day doing things you actually love doing. Do you have a hobby? And no, I'm not talking about your business. I'm talking about things like going to the museum, sitting in an outdoor cafe, sipping coffee, going to a nearby lake, and putting your feet in the water. Here's the deal. Make your fun list and do the things that you put on that list.

Lastly, I want you to prioritize your own mental and physical health. So this may mean getting enough sleep, eating well, and taking breaks throughout the day to rest and recharge yourself. You know what you need to do. You're the boss and you can give yourself permission to do it. You have absolute control over your mind, you have absolute control over your time, and you have absolute control over your money. Incorporating self-care into your routine can lead to numerous benefits, and I mean numerous benefits as a business owner and coach. And these include things like increased productivity, taking breaks, and prioritizing your well being can actually make you more productive and efficient when you're working. It'll help you in making better decisions.

When you take care of yourself, you're better equipped to make sound decisions and handle stress a whole lot better. Self-care practices can improve your mental and physical health, leading to a happier and more fulfilling life and even a more successful coaching business. At the end of the day, taking care of yourself is paramount if you are a coach who wants to achieve and maintain success by creating a self-care routine, setting boundaries, and prioritizing your own well-being. You'll be able to show up as the best version of yourself for your clients. And that is so important. Remember, taking care of yourself is not selfish. It is necessary.

Welcome back to our podcast episode on self-care for coaches who are running their own coaching business. Now let's dive into a few self-care strategies that you can implement to take care of yourself as you build and grow the coaching business of your dream. As a coach, we can sometimes feel like we need to be constantly working and hustling to build our business. Can I get an amen on that? But neglecting your own self-care because you're doing the hustle can lead to burnout and even failure in the long run. It's just not sustainable. That's why it's important to prioritize your self-care as a regular part of your business practices.

One of the best self-care strategies you can employ is to schedule actual downtime. This means intentionally setting aside time in your schedule for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenating fun. It could be something as simple as taking a break, to read a book, to meditate, or to take a walk. Whatever it is, make sure you're doing something that makes you feel refreshed and recharged.

I did a modified version of this yesterday. Yesterday I decided to take the entire day off for some much-needed self-care. I noticed that I wasn't able to fully concentrate on my work and I knew that taking a day off would help me recharge and be more productive for the remainder of my week. So I cleared my schedule for the day, except for one call that I had scheduled with a developer who wanted to interview me about his AI tool that I use in my business. Instead of working, I spent the day with my mate who is also his own boss. We had breakfast together and spent the day enjoying each other's company. The sun was shining and we soaked up some much needed vitamin D with coffee and conversations. It felt like living. When it was time for my call with the developer, I didn't have to rush back to the office or stress about being late. But yesterday was a reminder that self-care is not only important for our mental and physical health but also for our business success.

Another strategy that is very powerful for self-care is to set boundaries. As a coach, it's important to establish boundaries with clients and even with yourself. This can mean saying no to opportunities that simply do not align with your values or goals. By setting boundaries, you're prioritizing your own needs and well-being, and that is a good thing.

The third strategy I want you to consider is practicing mindfulness. This is also a powerful self-care strategy. Mindfulness involves being present at the moment and focusing on your thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations. This can help you manage stress and anxiety, especially when you are aware of what's going on, and increase your overall sense of well-being. Mindfulness allows you to get in tune with yourself and some ways to practice mindfulness include meditation, deep breathing exercises, or simply taking a few minutes to reflect on your day, to be grateful, and to seek peace. By taking care of yourself, you'll be better equipped to serve your clients and achieve your business goals. So don't be afraid to make self-care a priority.

Self-care is not a luxury, but a necessity for building a sustainable and successful business.

Welcome back, everyone. I hope you enjoyed learning about some self-care strategies that you can implement. In this segment, we'll wrap up our discussion on the importance of self-care for coaches who run their own coaching business. As a quick recap, we discussed why self-care is crucial for coach who want to build a successful coaching business. We explored different self-care strategies, including scheduling downtime, setting boundaries, and practicing mindfulness. Now, let's conclude by talking about the next steps you can take to prioritize self-care in your coaching business.

First, I want to recommend that you take some time to reflect on your current self-care habits. On a scale of one to ten, how do you rank and identify areas where you can improve and make a plan to prioritize self-care going forward? Maybe it's scheduling a regular weekly self-care activity or setting boundaries around your work hours.

Second, if you have a support system like friends, family or a business coach, don't forget to include them in your self-care plans. Your loved ones, colleagues, or even a mentor can help keep you accountable and true to your self-care practices.

And third, always remember that self-care is not just about treating yourself once in a while. It's a necessary practice that should be incorporated into your everyday business routine. Start small and gradually increase the amount of time you dedicate to self-care.

In today's episode, which is one of those learn-to-earn episodes, we are going to wrap up our series called What Do I Need to Change in the Second Quarter? For those who are new to this podcast, we are discussing strategies and tips to help coaches achieve their goals and make the most of the second quarter of the year. And today we're going to talk about something that's crucial for coaches at all levels, and that is managing your finances. Money is so important, and knowing how to manage your money and finances better in your coaching business can make a world of difference for the growth and sustainability of your business. Not only that, but these are the last days of Financial Literacy Month, so what better way to wrap up the month than to talk about money and finances and really about some money mistakes that coaches should avoid when it comes to running their business. So we're going to get into it. In this episode, I want to talk about four critical and common financial mistakes and what you can do to avoid them as a coach from overspending in your business to not planning properly for taxes, these mistakes can have serious consequences for your financial stability. I believe this episode can really be a game-changer for many coaches, especially in today's economy. So whether you're a first-time coach or a seasoned veteran, this episode is for you.

    Chareen Goodman

By the end of this podcast, you'll have a better understanding of what you can do to manage your finances effectively and avoid the common pitfalls that many coaches face in any given year. So my friends, get that cup of coffee, water, or tea along with a pen and some paper, and let's talk about managing your finances and some key mistakes you want to avoid making in your coaching business. The first mistake that many coaches make when it comes to managing their finances is failing to create a budget for their business expenses. It is so easy to overlook those pesky business expenses that creep up every month or assume that they will be covered by other sources of funding. But this can absolutely lead to overspending and financial instability in your business and that can lead to a whole lot of unnecessary stress for you. As a coach, you likely have a number of business expenses that you need to account for, such as software memberships, internet subscriptions, technical equipment, and perhaps even travel expenses or rent. Without having a clear budget in place, it can be difficult to manage these expenses effectively and ensure that you have enough funds to cover them. You don't want to try to keep track of these numbers in your head every month.

    Chareen Goodman

This practice takes up too much mental real estate that should be reserved for your clients. So what can you do to avoid this mistake? One of the most important things is to create a comprehensive budget that includes all of your necessary business expenses. You can kickstart this financial practice by tracking your spending over a period of time, like the next 30 days, and identifying areas where you may be overspending or even overlooking the expenses you incur every month. It's also important to prioritize your expenses and allocate your money accordingly. So say, for example, if you typically launch your group coaching program in the fall, you may have to allocate more funds to marketing Facebook ads and promotional activities during this time in order to get the word out and people enrolled into your program. Having a forward looking budget for things like this can really help you manage your financial position more effectively. You can consider using tools like expense tracking apps or software to help you manage your budget and stay on top of your expenses. There are a to of them out there which you can find with a simple Google search.

    Chareen Goodman

By doing this, not only will you be creating a great money management habit, but you'll also be able to identify which is very important by the way areas in your business where you may be overspending on things that are just not necessary. So here's the deal not budgeting for business expenses is a common mistake that many coaches make in their business. However, by creating a comprehensive budget, prioritizing your expenses, and using tools to help you stay on top of your spending, you can avoid this mistake and ensure financial stability for your coaching business. Now just imagine how much peace of mind you can create when you do this. Now, in this segment, let's talk about another common, yet critical mistake that coaches make when managing their finances and that is failing to plan for paying your taxes. This mistakes can lead to large, unexpected tax bills and a lot of stress when it comes to tax season. As a coach, it's important to plan for taxes throughout the year. This means setting aside a portion of your income for taxes and working with a tax professional to minimize your tax liability.

    Chareen Goodman

This is not the time nor the area to be a Doityourselfer. One way to plan for taxes is to estimate your tax liability for the year and then divide that amount by twelve. This will give you a rough idea of how much you should be setting aside each month for your taxes. Another important step is to work with a tax professional, perhaps a CPA. They can help you identify deductions and credits that you may be eligible for or that you would ordinarily miss. A tax professional can help you develop a tax planning strategy that minimizes your tax liability. Remember, you are building a business that should sustain the lifestyle you desire. Planning the financial element is also essential.

    Chareen Goodman

And here's another thing it's important that you keep detailed records of your income and expenses throughout the year. This includes keeping track of your business expenses as well as any income you receive from coaching services. Don't pawn this off to someone and you don't know what's going on with your money. When you put this practice into place, you will be better prepared come tax season and can avoid any unexpected surprises. Remember, planning for taxes is important for your financial stability as a coach. Failing to plan can lead to unexpected tax bills and a lot of unnecessary stress. By setting aside a portion of your income each month, working with a tax professional, and keeping detailed records, you can avoid this mistake and ensure that your finances are in good shape and that's what you want. Hey coaches.

    Chareen Goodman

Welcome back to another segment of the Crack the Coaching Coach podcast. In this segment, I want to touch on the crucial mistake that many coaches make and that is neglecting to plan for their retirement from their coaching business. Let's face it, you're not going to work forever, are you? If you're like no, I'm not. Then you can't ignore retirement planning. Yes, retirement may seem far away, but it's important to start planning for it right now while you are building and growing your coaching business. Ignoring retirement planning can lead to a lack of financial security in your later years, which can be stressful in and of itself. So one way to start planning for retirement is by setting up retirement savings accounts such as an IRA. Whether it's Traditional or Roth, or a Solo Four Hundred and One K plan, these accounts allow you to save for retirement on a tax-advantaged basis, which means you can potentially save more money than you would in a regular savings account.

    Chareen Goodman

Put this on your list of things that you need to change for the second quarter if you don't already have this in place. Now, this is not financial advice, but it is something that you should be talking over with either your tax accountant or a financial planner. Remember, running your coaching business means you are a business owner. It's also important to invest wisely for the future. This means diversifying your portfolio and choosing investments that align with your goals and risk tolerance. Again, it can be helpful to work with a financial advisor who can provide guidance and help you make informed investment decisions. If you're just starting out as a coach, it may seem difficult to save for retirement. Heck, I get it.

    Chareen Goodman

However, even small contributions can add up to big money over time. Consider setting aside a percentage of your income for retirement and increase that percentage as your income grows. It's so important that you keep this in mind. Don't ignore retirement planning. Yes, this is a common mistake that many coaches make, but it's never too late to start planning for your future. By setting up a retirement savings account, investing wisely, and taking advantage of the resources available to you, you can assure you'll have the financial security you want in your later years. And I guarantee you, your future self will thank you for it. This week, I wrote a blog post that covers seven common mistakes that coaches should avoid when it comes to their finances, which you can find at chareengoodman.com.

    Chareen Goodman

However, this segment is only on this podcast. In this segment, we're going to talk about a mistake that can be particularly stressful, and that is taking on debt to operate your coach business. I'm a big proponent of not going into debt to build a service-based business like coaching or consulting, and I typically advise my clients to do the same. Why? Because there are too many ways, with the right plan and strategy in place to build a profitable coaching business without taking on debt and by making wise investments. I'm also a strong proponent that you can't expect to build a profitable coaching business. By doing everything to build your business for free. You must make wise investments. Now, don't get me wrong.

    Chareen Goodman

Coaches, just like any other small business owner, may need to take on some debt to invest in their business. However, taking on debt without assessing alternatives, or without a clear understanding of the ROI, your return on investment can lead to financial stress and instability. It's important to manage debt effectively and avoid taking on more debt than you can handle. This includes not taking on the debt of a client or client who can't afford your coaching services. Now, here's the straight with no chaser coach in me. You are not a bank. And funding your clients who can't afford to pay you when services are rendered are perhaps not your ideal clients. If you are challenged in this area, schedule a call with me so we can get that sorted out and handled for you.

    Chareen Goodman

Again, you are not a bank, and when clients are not paying you, you are taking on, believe it or not, debt. Now, one way to manage debt effectively is by creating that budget I talked about earlier and sticking to it. Know your financial limits. By budgeting carefully, you can ensure that you're not taking on more debt than you can afford to pay back, or taking on debt that is really doing your business a disservice. If you have an overabundance of debt in your business, including unpaid and outstanding payments from clients, I encourage you to sit down and do the math and then put a plan in place to collect. Finally, if you're considering taking on more debt, first, think carefully. Before you do so, consider whether the debt is necessary and whether you can afford to repay it on time. If you're unsure, it's always better to err on the side of caution and avoid taking on more debt than you can handle.

    Chareen Goodman

Remember, taking on debt is a common mistake that many coaches make, but it's one that can truly be avoided simply by thinking carefully before taking on debt. Even when it comes to funding your clients, you are the master of your financial ship. Don't sink it with debt. And that's a wrap, my coaching friends. We've covered a lot of ground today discussing four of the most common financial mistakes coaches make and how to avoid them. So let's quickly recap the key takeaways from today's episode. Firstly, it's important to budget for all your business expenses to avoid overspending and creating financial instability. Secondly, plan for taxes throughout the year to avoid any unexpected tax bills.

    Chareen Goodman

Thirdly, don't ignore your retirement planning, as it can lead to a lack of financial security in your later years. And finally, manage your debt effectively to avoid financial stress and instability, especially when the debt is unnecessary. Remember, coaches, managing your finances effectively is crucial for long-term success and stability. It can help you achieve your financial goals and ensure that your business is sustainable over the long haul, and it'll help you have the lifestyle of your dreams. Welcome to the Crack the Coaching Code podcast. I'm your host, Chareen Goodman, founder of Crack the Coaching Code, and I want to say thanks for tuning into today's podcast. In today's episode, we are continuing with our series called What Do I Need to Change? In the Second Quarter, where we are discussing strategies and tips to help coaches achieve their goals and make the most of the second quarter of the year.

    Chareen Goodman 00:01:3600:03:30Play

Today, we'll be continuing our discussion of the four disciplines of execution with a focus on the last two disciplines, keeping a compelling scoreboard and creating a cadence of accountability. These two disciplines are essential for coaches who want to achieve their wildly important goals and lead measures and ensure that their teams and themselves are staying on track and engaged in the process. Today, we're going to explore the benefits of keeping a visible scoreboard that displays progress toward your wildly important goals, WIGs as they are often referred to, and your lead measures. We'll be discussing strategies for creating a scoreboard that works for you and your team. We'll also be discussing the importance of establishing a regular routine of accountability meetings, where progress is reviewed, discussed, and adjustments are made. So whether you're a solo coach or part of a team, these disciplines can help you achieve greater success and drive growth in your business. Now grab your favorite drink, a pen and paper, and let's learn how to implement these last two disciplines of execution, which are crucial in helping coaches stay on track and achieve their goals. In last week's episode, we discussed the first two disciplines of execution, the first focusing on setting one or two wildly important goals and acting on lead measures that will help you achieve those goals.

    Chareen Goodman 00:03:3200:04:42Play

Today we are talking about the remaining two disciplines of execution and how they can help coaches achieve success in their businesses. In this segment, we're diving into the third discipline of keeping a compelling scoreboard. This involves creating a visible scoreboard that displays progress toward your wildly important goals and lead measures. Keeping track of your progress is an essential part of achieving your goals. A scoreboard provides a clear and visual representation of your progress toward your wildly important goals and your lead measures. A scoreboard helps keep everyone on the same page and engaged in achieving your goals. So that means your scoreboard needs to be simple. It needs to be easy to understand and visually compelling to keep everyone focused on the most important objectives.

    Chareen Goodman 00:04:4400:06:01Play

Ideally, you want to make your scoreboard as compelling as possible. A compelling scoreboard is not just any ordinary scoreboard. The goal is to make it so compelling that it will motivate everyone to take action and do their best to achieve the objectives. A compelling scoreboard should provide real-time data so everyone can see how much progress has been made toward the wildly important goals and lead measures. It should also show the gap between where you are right now and where you want to be moving forward. This helps to maintain focus and efforts on the most critical areas that need improvement in your business. Some examples of scoreboards that coaches can use include a simple whiteboard, or even an old fashioned chalkboard with colored chalk. Of course, even a digital dashboard could really spice things up, or even a simple spreadsheet.

    Chareen Goodman 00:06:0200:07:25Play

The scoreboard should be easy to update and maintain, and it should be accessible to everyone on the team. Two, the scoreboard should be updated regularly. We don't want old news, and it should be shared with the team to ensure everyone is aware of progress toward the goals. In this segment, we're going to discuss the fourth and final discipline of execution, and that is all about creating a cadence of accountability. As we discussed in the previous segment, keeping a compelling scoreboard is a critical component of the four disciplines of execution. However, having just a scoreboard alone is not enough. It's also important to establish a regular routine of accountability meetings where progress toward your wildly important goals and your lead measures are reviewed, discussed and adjusted as needed. Yes, this applies to you solo coaches too, who have a single operation.

    Chareen Goodman 00:07:2600:08:30Play

You have to have some way of staying accountable to your WIGs. Again, wildly important goals. So what exactly is a cadence of accountability? Well, it's a regular, recurring meeting where the coach and their team review progress, where you identify challenges and opportunities, and where you adjust your approach as needed. I call this course correction. The goal of these meetings is to keep everyone on track and focused on the most important objectives. Again, this applies to the solo coach, too. Even if you operate a solo coaching business, it's important to establish a cadence of accountability for yourself. This could mean setting up regular check ins with a trusted colleague, a mentor, or even a business coach.

    Chareen Goodman 00:08:3100:09:47Play

These meetings should be structured and focused on reviewing progress toward your WIGs and your lead measures. Again, discussing any challenges that you may be facing and brainstorming strategies for how you're going to work through the challenges and move the needle for improvement. And I must interject this point. It's important to note that accountability meetings should be positive and focused on solutions, not blame or criticism. The goal is to create a safe, open, and supportive environment where everyone feels empowered to share their progress, to bring up their challenges, and to initiate ideas for resolution. Again, for the solo coach, no beating yourself up or criticizing yourself. The goal is to move forward, making progress. Now, there are many different formats for accountability meetings, and the key is to find what works best for you and your team.

Some coaches might prefer weekly team meetings, while others might opt for monthly progress reviews. Even the one on one coaching sessions are very effective for individual accountability and support. I like to say that this is where the miracle happens in the conversation. So here's the deal creating a cadence of accountability is a crucial part of the four disciplines of execution. It helps to ensure that everyone is on track, focused on the most important objectives, and accountable for their progress. And as a coach, it's important to establish a routine of regular accountability meetings. Whether you operate a solo coaching business or lead a team, accountability is key. In this final segment, I want to laser in on some common challenges that coaches will face when implementing the four disciplines of execution in their business.

    Chareen Goodman 00:11:0400:12:30Play

Now, while the four disciplines of execution can lead to significant success, coaches will encounter some challenges that can hinder their progress. So now let's dive into some of these challenges and what you can do to overcome them. The first challenge is really going to be around difficulty in identifying your wildly important goals. One of the primary challenges that coach will face is identifying exactly what their wildly important goals are. It can be challenging to determine which goals are critical to the success of your business. This challenge can result in a lack of focus and direction, making it difficult to achieve the success that you know you want for your business. So, to overcome this challenge, coaches should identify the key areas of their business that have the most impact on their business success. So is this lead generation? Is it client acquisition? Is it getting better at your sales call? Once these areas are identified, then you can determine the specific goals that are critical to achieving success in these areas.

    Chareen Goodman 00:12:3100:13:39Play

Additionally, coaches should ensure that their goals are smart. They must be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound. Here's another challenge that coaches may face, which is their own lack of commitment and discipline, which can be a significant roadblock to implementing the four disciplines of execution. Without discipline, coaches may struggle to consistently execute on their WIGs and lead measures, making it difficult to achieve success. So here's my solution. To overcome this specific challenge, coaches should establish routines and habits that promote discipline and consistency. Routines and habits like morning routines, specific day-of-the-week routines, et cetera. So these routines and habits can include things like setting specific times to review, progress toward your WIGs and your lead measures.

    Chareen Goodman 00:13:4000:14:42Play

Prioritizing the most critical tasks that are in front of you, planning out your work, and working out. Your plan and doing what you say you are going to do when you say you are going to do it and then regularly holding yourself accountable. This is what I teach my clients through my time integrity method, and it works like a charm. Now, the third challenge is all about resistance to change. Come on. Now, who doesn't experience this challenge on a regular basis? We all have some form of resistance to change, and implementing the four disciplines of execution will require a significant change in the way coaches operate their business. If you have a team, this change can lead to resistance from team members. Believe me, when I was managing projects for some major Fortune 500 companies, I experienced this a lot.

    Chareen Goodman 00:14:4200:16:05Play

But this resistance to change will show up even from the coach themselves. So what's the solution to overcome this challenge? Coaches should communicate the benefits of the four disciplines of execution to their team members and explain why these changes are necessary. I liken this conversation to the matrix, where Neo had to decide on the red pill or the blue pill. Of course, your conversation will more than likely involve making a decision between having a successful coaching business or a losing coaching business. I encourage you to choose wisely. But more than that, as a coach, you should lead by example and consistently demonstrate the benefits of the four disciplines of execution in your own work. Now, these are just some of the common challenges coaches will face when implementing the four disciplines of execution. But by identifying these challenges and implementing the solutions I've just shared, you can overcome these obstacles and achieve greater success in your business.

    Chareen Goodman 00:16:0600:17:16Play

I'm rooting for you. Well, that concludes episode three on the last two disciplines of the four disciplines of execution for coaches. We've covered a lot of ground today discussing the importance of keeping a compelling scoreboard and creating a cadence of accountability to help you achieve your wildly important goals and your lead measures. We also address some common challenges coaches will face when implementing these disciplines, and I've provided some solutions to help you overcome them. So let's do a quick recap of what the four disciplines of execution are. Discipline number one focuses on the wildly important goals that will help you move the needle toward success in your business. Discipline number two act on lead measures. Figure out what they are that align with your wildly important goals.

    Chareen Goodman 00:17:1800:18:40Play

Discipline number three keep a compelling scoreboard. Put up a visual that will help you and your team see the progress that you are making toward your goals. And then, discipline number four create a cadence of accountability. Have your meetings, even if that means with yourself, so you can track your progress and course correct as you go.

Welcome to the Crack The Coaching C.O.D.E.™ podcast. I'm your host. Chareen Goodman, Founder of Crack The Coaching C.O.D.E.™.

In this episode, we'll be continuing with our series called What Do I Need to Change? In the second quarter. Where we'll be discussing strategies and tips to help coaches achieve their goals and make the most of the second quarter of the year. In this episode, we'll be diving into the four disciplines of execution, a framework designed to help coaches achieve their most important goals by focusing on a few critical objectives, executing with excellence, and consistently measuring progress.

Today, we'll be talking about two of the four disciplines of execution and how coaches can use them to improve their business outcomes in the second quarter. Whether you're a solo coach looking to overcome the struggles of running your own business or a coach looking to take your business to the next level, the four disciplines of execution can provide you with some valuable insights to help you achieve your goals. So sit back, relax, grab your pen and notepad, and get ready to learn how to crack the code to success with the Four Disciplines of Execution. In this episode, we're going to dive deep into a framework that can help coaches achieve their goals and make real progress in their businesses. It's called the four Disciplines of Execution.

Or 4DX for short. So last Friday, I was on my usual Institute of Management Consultants call, and there was a presentation being made about the four disciplines of execution. Now, for me, execution is everything. With my project management consulting background, execution is key. So the 4DX framework was developed by Chris McChesney, Sean Covey, and Jim Huling, who wrote a book about it called The Four Disciplines of Execution: Achieving Your Wildly Important Goals.

So the 4DX framework is centered around the idea that most businesses, including coaches, have too many goals and initiatives that they are trying to work on at any given point in time, which can lead to a lack of focus and poor execution. Instead, the framework emphasizes the importance of identifying only one or two at the most Wildly Important Goals. They call them WIGs that are critical to the success of your coaching business and then, execution with excellence, which I call exquisite execution.

On those goals. I was recently attending a networking event, and one of the persons I was networking with mentioned that she was new in her coaching business and was trying to get it up and running. And she mentioned that there's a lot to do in business, but schools don't teach you how to run a business. And I was like, you're absolutely right. And she goes, Well, I wonder, do I really need to set goals? Do I really need to build an email list? And my answer to her was yes and yes, especially on the goals. I was like, you need to set goals because how will you know what you're moving toward, let alone how will you know if you've achieved it?

So this first discipline of execution is important to figure out what is your Wildly Important Goal. By focusing on a few critical goals this quarter, you can create clarity and alignment with your business. This can also help you avoid the squirreliness of day-to-day tasks and distractions that can pull you away from your most important goals.

But setting WIGs or Wildly Important Goals is only the beginning. The Four Disciplines of Execution framework also provides guidance on how to act on lead measures, keep a compelling scorecard, and create a cadence of accountability to consistently measure progress and course correct as needed. The benefits of the 4DX framework for coaches are clear. By focusing on a few critical goals, again one to two at max and executing them with excellence, coaches can achieve greater clarity and alignment in their business and make real progress towards their most important goals, especially for the second quarter.

Now, let's get into the first two disciplines of execution. In this segment, we're going to dive deep into the first discipline of execution, which is to focus on the Wildly Important Goals that are critical to the success of your coaching business. As we discussed earlier, the Four Disciplines of Execution emphasize the importance of setting one or two Wildly Important Goals that are critical to your coaching business.

These WIGs should be smart, specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. And they should represent the most important priorities for your business. So what are some examples of WIGs that a coach could set? Well, it really depends on your business and your goals, but some examples might include increasing client acquisition, improving client satisfaction, or developing a new coaching program. Real Moneymakers so let's say your WIG is to increase client acquisition. You might set a specific goal to acquire ten new clients in the second quarter or increase client acquisition by 25% within the next three months. This goal is specific. It is measurable. I would say it's even achievable. When you set your mind and focus on it, it's relevant, it's money-making, and time-bound, all within the second quarter or at least a month after that.

The key to setting effective, Wildly Important Goals is to ensure that they are smart. This will help you stay focused and avoid distractions, and it will also help you track progress and course correct as needed. So as you think about your business and your goals for the second quarter, consider setting one or two WIGs, Wildly Important Goals that are crucial to your success this year, and make sure they are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. This will help you stay focused and make real progress toward your most important goals in your business.

Okay, so in this segment, we're going to dive into the second discipline of execution, which is to act on lead measures that will lead to the achievement of your Wildly Important Goals. Lead measures are the specific behaviors or actions that you will take which directly influences the progress toward your Wildly Important Goals. These are the things that you can control and that will have the greatest impact on your success in achieving those goals.

For example, if your goal is to increase client acquisition, some lead measures you can focus on might include increasing your social media presence, attending networking events, or perhaps optimizing your website for search engines. The key to identifying effective lead measures is to focus on actions that are within your control and that will directly influence progress toward your goals. Here's the thing these lead measures should also be smart. They should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound, just like your Wildly Important Goals.

So again, let's say your WIG, Wildly Important Goal is to increase your social media presence. Some lead measures you could focus on might include posting daily updates on your social media accounts, engaging with followers by responding to comments, and direct messages. Maybe it's about experimenting with different types of content to see what resonates with your audience. Again, the key is to incorporate things that you can control.

The key to success with this discipline is to consistently let me repeat that consistently act on your lead measures and measure progress towards your Wildly Important Goals. By focusing on specific actions that are within your control, you can make real progress toward your most important goals. So as you think about your business and your goals for the second quarter, consider identifying lead measures that will directly influence progress toward your Wildly Important Goals. And remember, it's important to have lead measures that are smart. That means they should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. Having smart lead measures can really help you stay on track and make tangible progress toward your most important goals. So keep this in mind as you plan out your next steps.

And that concludes episode two of the Crack The Coaching C.O.D.E.™ podcast, where we explore the first two disciplines of execution that can help coaches improve their businesses in the second quarter.

To recap, the Four Disciplines of Execution Framework provides a systematic approach to achieving your most critical goals for your coaching business by focusing on a few key objectives, execution with excellence, and consistently measuring your progress. Discipline One is all about identifying the Wildly Important Goals that are critical to the success of your business and represent the most important priorities for your business. Discipline Two emphasizes the importance of taking action on lead measures or the specific behaviors that will lead to the achievement of your goals. By focusing on actions that are within your control, you can directly influence the progress you make toward your goal. Remember that the first two disciplines of execution are just the beginning of the 4DX framework, and implementing all four disciplines can have and I'm certain will have a significant impact on the success of your coaching business.

In our next episode, we'll continue our discussion of the four disciplines of execution and dive into the remaining two disciplines. So stay tuned. Thank you for listening to this episode of the Crack The Coaching C.O.D.E.™podcast.

If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to contact us via our website or social media channels. Again, thanks for tuning in and I look forward to seeing you in the next episode of the Crack The Coaching C.O.D.E.™ podcast. Blessings.

It's great to be starting off the Crack the Coaching Code podcast with a super exciting series called What Do I Need to Change in the Second Quarter? It's perfect timing because we're starting a brand new quarter. Can you believe that?

As we enter this new quarter, my goal is to help coaches like you, my friend, prepare to level up your business game. So get ready to kick start this quarter with a bang. I want you to grab your pen and paper, unless you're driving, of course, so you can take notes. Truth be told, it's getting a bit rocky in the economy right now. So in this series, we'll dive into valuable insights for coaches who may be experiencing some challenges and obstacles in their coaching business. Together, we'll explore some effective strategies to help you overcome some of these setbacks and challenges and so you can ultimately achieve greater success in your coaching business over the next 90 days. Let's journey together throughout this series.

Today's episode is going to be a game-changer. We're going to dive deep and discover a coaching secret that will help you achieve your goals. I am so excited to share this important topic with you on the power of reflection. By reflecting on your successes and areas for improvement from the first quarter, you will be able to make progress toward your goals in the next 90 days. Let's jump right in and start reflecting on the first quarter. You okay? Let me start by congratulating you on making it through the first quarter. That in itself is a major achievement, and you should be very proud of yourself for making it through. Way to go.

As of this podcast, we have officially wrapped up the first three months of the year, and it's been quite a ride. With unexpected challenges popping up left and right. I'm sure it certainly has been a bit of a roller coaster for me too, my friend. But guess what? You managed to power through it all and come out on the other side. You persevered and made it through. So celebrate. You for the fact you are still in the game. But I can only imagine that despite all the effort you've been putting into your coaching business, you may still be feeling like a hamster stuck in a wheel. Or perhaps Shiny Object syndrome has you acting a bit squirrely.

And even though you know your stuff as a coach, your business might not be booming as much as you wanted to. I get it. The struggle is real, my friend. But you're not alone in this. It's a tough truth to swallow, but let's face it, a lot of you are feeling the struggle when it comes to growing your business. You probably don't want to settle for just an average growth rate or worse yet, a below-average rate. And why should you? It's time to shake things up and give your business the boost it deserves. This is why it's so important that you take some time to reflect on what happened during the first quarter of the year.

This is your chance to ask yourself, what's really going on in my business? So I want you to listen up, my friend. It's high time you put on your thinking cap and give your brain a workout. It's time to reflect on what went down during the first quarter. This is your golden opportunity to grill yourself and find out the nitty-gritty of what's really going on behind the scenes of your business. This is your chance to dig deep and ask yourself, what the heck is really going on in my business? Whether it's the good, whether it's the bad, whether it's the ugly trust me, your future self will thank you for taking the time to examine things thoroughly.

Nowadays, it's easy to get caught up in the daily tasks of running your business. But setting aside time to reflect and plan for what is coming ahead is crucial to your success. It's so important that you take a look back so you can plan forward and set new goals for the second quarter so that your second quarter is better than your first quarter. It's time to get introspective and catch up with yourself.

So how do you go about doing this? Let's find out. First and foremost, you want to reflect on and celebrate your wins. What did you accomplish in the first quarter that you're proud of? Maybe you landed a new client or reached a new income milestone. There has to have been at least one thing you're proud of. Secondly, reflect to identify areas where you need to improve what didn't go as planned? What lessons did you learn? It's okay. You need to look at the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Finally, reflect to determine where you're going to go in Q two. How did you do in the first quarter? Did you achieve your goals? Did you struggle with anything? Make note of that. When you identify these areas in your business, you can create a plan to make changes and improve your results in the second quarter. Here's a motivating fact did you know that reflecting on your progress from the first quarter can actually boost your motivation and help you stay focused going into the second quarter? It's true. By taking some time to think about how far you've come and what you've achieved, you'll be able to approach the next 90 days and even the rest of the year with renewed hope, energy and enthusiasm. Sure, it's easy to get caught up in the daily grind of running a business. However, by taking a moment to reflect and refocus can be incredibly beneficial. By doing this, you can make sure that you're headed in the right direction and working towards the goals that matter most to you.

When you try it, I'm sure you'll be amazed at what a little bit of introspection can do. All right, my friend, we're going to pivot to our next topic setting new goals for the second quarter. So now that you've done the hard part of reflecting on the first quarter, now we get focused on setting exciting new goals to drive success in the upcoming months. So let's dive in and explore some questions to ask, which will help us reach our targets. The first question what are your goals for the second quarter? You must set goals. What do you want to achieve? What do you need to achieve? Now, here's the thing wants and needs bring about two different outcomes. What you want and what you need are very different. What are your top priorities? What changes will you make to your approach in achieving your goals? What strategies will you use to market your coaching business? Answer these questions and reflect on your answers.

I want you to think about the challenges you faced in the first quarter and how you can overcome them in the second quarter. Set specific measurable and achievable goals that align with your overall business objectives. Focus on the life you want to create and plan it out. From that perspective, you just may see the shift you need to make as we move into the second quarter, it's important to take the time to reflect on what you've accomplished so far and set new goals for the future. Yes, it's easy to get lost in the never-ending list of to dos that come with running your business. But let's not forget a little reflection goes a long way. Taking a step back from the daily grind to plan for the future is the secret sauce to achieving success. By doing so, you'll be better equipped to tackle the challenges ahead and achieve the success you know you deserve.

Before we end, let's recap the plays you can run to supercharge your second quarter first, take a moment to reflect on the first quarter and identify areas that need improvement in the second quarter. This will help you identify the areas where change is needed so you can make great things happen in the next 90 days. Once you've done that, it's time to set your goals for the second quarter and get ready to crush them. Thank you so much for tuning in to the Crack the Coaching Code podcast.
