Cranksetology Podcast had a lot of fun talking with our adventurous/thrill seeker friend Dawn Niday for the “Women in Cycling” series. Dawn talks about when she first stated riding as a kid and how she would ride her bike up and down PCH from Huntington Beach to Laguna Beach. We also learned about her triathlon journey, paragliding accident, recovery from the accident and about being an advocate for CAF Challenged Athletes Foundation for 13 years. We also learned that she participated in the Freedom Ride Project with the quest of bringing awareness to human trafficking. Cranksetology learned so much about Holly Gabel and her racing bicycles competitively for the “Women in Cycling” series.

Holly Gabel shares when she first started riding a bike at the tender age of 10 years old. Holly shares about when she started inline speed skating competitively at the National level and won a silver medal. We learned that Holly is a mother to a 13 year old son and we also learned how modest and unassuming Holly is in her dedication and competitiveness in racing bikes. It was a pleasure to have Holly Gabel on as our guest and we look forward to seeing her continue racing in 2025.

Cranksetology continues the “Women in Cycling” series with our 4th Mont Rushmore; Lori Hoechlin. We had a great few hours with an amazing endurance athlete and we are happy to call Lori Hoechlin our friend. 

Lori shares how she started riding and transitioned to endurance cycling. We talk about the 6 Silver State 508 she’s completed, RAAM, Everesting Alp d’Huez in the French Alps, Paris-Brest_Paris and so much more. Lori has completed so many endurance events in the past 10 years that we ran out of time and were unable to get to her racing or her world record. So we will definitely have to bring her back for another episode. Lori is an amazing athlete, wife and mother and it was a pleasure to have her as our guest.
