This week on Crash Report we discuss the Tuskegee Syphilis Study. A joint venture of the United States Public Health Service and the CDC, this secretive study sought to exploit the illiteracy, poverty, and promiscuity of 600 black sharecroppers in an effort to learn more about the effects of syphilis.In the end, the study didn’t teach us all that much, and wound up killing over 100 of its participants.
