This week on Creannotators, I talk with comics legend – seriously he’s one of my favorite creators of all time! – Jim Starlin and inker Jaime Jameson about the upcoming Dreadstar Returns, an all-new graphic novel from Ominous Press. We talk about the team’s approach to relaunching the Dreadstar universe, why Starlin continues to escalate cosmic stakes in work on Thanos and now Dreadstar, and whether Marvel Studios has appropriately compensated Starlin for his many Marvel Cosmic creations, including Thanos, Drax, Gamora, & Shang-Chi (among many more!).

This is probably the hardest to track down – at least that has been my experience – as there’s a short story in the pages of Epic Illustrated #15 by Starlin including Dreadstar and Darklock that sets the stage for the ongoing to follow.

Dreadstar #1 to #40

After Starlin’s final issue (at the time), Peter David took over writing Dreadstar from issue #41 to #64, when the series ended in 1991. To my knowledge, these are uncollected, and only available via back issues.
