Dr. Cesar Espiritu is the President and CEO of TMC South Luzon.

Dr. Cesar talks Innovation as a value-adding process. He also shares that coming up with new ideas may be easy but there is a need to execute these ideas and ivest time, effort and budget. It is important that we “take these rough ideas, refine them, and experiment with them to come up with real solutions.

Dr. Raul Destura (Philippines) is currently the Deputy Executive Director of the National Institute of Health of the University of the Philippines. He is the scientist behind the first local COVID-19 testing kit. He was included in the “Asian Scientist 100” list of the Asian Scientist magazine, and is known for leading the development of the SARS CoV-2 PCR Detection Kit. He was cited for his creation of the award-winning Biotek-M dengue aqua kit for faster, more affordable, and accessible dengue diagnosis.

Dr. Eugenio Jose Ramos, President and CEO of The Medical City Enterprise,  receives  the  Philippine Society for Quality's (PSQ) Team Excellence and  Innovation Awards during the " 1st International Innovation and Benchmarking Summit" held last November 18, 2020. This international summit was spearheaded by PSQ in collaboration with the Global Benchmarking Network (GBN).

The Philippine Society for Quality (PSQ) aims to promote quality awareness and practices in both private and public sectors. It recognizes outstanding companies and individuals as a way of institutionalizing innovation and quality excellence through its " PSQ Excellence Awards," namely the PSQ Team Excellence Award and the PSQ Innovation Award. 

The PSQ  Team Excellence Award is a prestigious award that effectively used Business Excellence and Quality Management techniques such as Lean Six Sigma to identify problems and create solutions that improve the efficiencies and effectiveness of their organizations.

 The PSQ Innovation Award recognizes successful innovation projects completed across several functions of the organization and investigates how an innovation culture is inculcated throughout all facets of the organization (e.g. leadership commitment to innovation, strategic planning and resources, processes, results, competency building, collaboration, and knowledge sharing).

The 2020 PSQ Excellence Award Administrators were Noly Cayabyab and Ainee Santo and the  panel of judges were Dr. Miflora Gatchalian, CEO, Quality Partners Company, Ltd. Wally Mateo, VP & Head of Global Quality Management, Jollibee Foods Corporation, Warren Enteria, VP & Head, Business Quality Management Division, PJ Lhuillier, Inc. and a former President of PSQ and Prof Eric Llaguno, Chair, Dept. of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, University of the Philippines, Diliman. The judges offered their insights and expertise during the panel presentation of the teams.

Ma. Teresa Bagaman (Philippines), the  Chairperson of the “1st World Innovation and Benchmarking Summit,” is the Vice President, Center for Innovation and Lifelong Learning of the Medical City and Vice President, Business Intelligence, Innovation and Benchmarking, Philippine Society for Quality. 

She made the Philippines proud when she led The Medical City to the Top Prize, International Benchmarking Competition, during the 4th Global Benchmarking Competition held in Dubai. She was chosen by the scientific committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Vienna to present her winning paper at Yale University, USA during the WHO conference in 2016.

She has more than 25 years of experience in refining the science and art of Innovation, Lifelong Learning, Strategy Development, Business Excellence Assessment, Quality and Customer Experience Management, Knowledge Management, and Business Process Outsourcing.

In this episode, Ms. Bagaman talks about the best practices adapted by The Medical City (TMC) in order to rise above the COVID 19 pandemic challenges.
