Fifa moved to the United States from Singapore in December of 2010 to pursue Veterinary school. Her passion to be a vet started back when she was in high school and she has saved 123 animals to-date. at first, she was scared to interview for school, and she wouldn't be in the United States if it weren't for her dad believing in her dreams!
Her first impression of the United States was how friendly and welcoming people are - and her thoughts on that have not changed. She loved how kind everyone was and how easy it was to compliment others out loud. At first, she was afraid that she would be discriminated against but she never had that experience and she said, "People here are very accepting of diversity and wanted to hear about my background - they were curious and there's nothing wrong with being curious!".
Throughout her 10 years in the US, Fifa never had any doubts about her dreams. Her advice to others who are uprooting their life and moving to a different country, state, house, or going through a big milestone in their life is to "reach for the stars but stay rooted in the ground". Identify what makes you YOU and the background that you came from will keep you humble and will also provide you motivation! The fact that we can pursue our dreams in the US is a real privilege and the more you give to others the more you receive.
We hope you enjoy Season 3 Episode 2 as much as we do! To reach out to Fifa directly, you can send her a DM on Instagram @fifafofum.
