  • The Fulfillment of the Law!
AI Generated Summarization... This sermon focuses on Matthew 5 and the Sermon on the Mount, highlighting Jesus' teaching about the Kingdom of Heaven, the Beatitudes, and Christians' calling to be the salt of the earth and light of the world. The main emphasis is on Matthew 5:17-20, where Jesus declares that He did not come to abolish the Law and the Prophets but to fulfill them. Pastor Geoff explains that Jesus perfectly understood, obeyed, and completed God's law, correcting human misinterpretations while affirming its divine authority. Ultimately, the sermon points to Jesus as the fulfillment of the entire Old Testament, the promised Messiah, Prophet, Priest, and King, whose righteousness is credited to believers, making them new creations empowered by the Holy Spirit to live faithfully for God's glory. OUTLINE: How do the words of Jesus in this section clarify our understanding of what He came to do in His life and ministry? 1) Jesus and the Law 2) Jesus, the Law Keeper 3) The Fulfillment of the Law! Jesus-Focused Finish: How do the words of Jesus refute any critique that He was relaxing, or negating, the righteousness of the Law of God?

  • Not of Him Who Wills
After showing how God chooses the outcomes for individuals and the outcomes for nations, Paul now reminds us of what happened on Mt. Sinai after the tablets of stone were broken as a picture that no one can be saved by the law. Moses went back up the mountain and asked God to show him His glory. God said that He would proclaim His name before Him, "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion." All of creation is about the glory of God and the greatest expression of the glory of God is how He rescues sinners from the just punishment for their sins. Because of the fall, we all died spiritually in Adam and live in the flesh unless God chooses to show compassion on us. Therefore, it is not of him who wills (for we would all would to continue in our sins) or him who runs (because we point our feet toward evil) but God who shows mercy so that no man can boast. God gets all of the glory and He will not allow it to be stolen by others.

  • Imitate God, Part 1
Theme: Because believers are new creations in Christ, we must obey the Lord in imitating Him by walking in love in our daily lives. In this passage we see that putting away falsehood is essential for maintaining unity within the body of Christ. Truth-telling is not optional but a fundamental characteristic of new life in Christ, reflecting God's own truthful nature. Not only are we to speak the truth in general, but we are to speak the truth in love to those around us regarding God's truths found in His Word. We as believers must reject deception and speak honestly to one another.

  • Our Creator
The sermon centers on Revelation 4:11 to affirm God as a worthy, watchful, and wishful Creator who deserves glory for bringing all things into existence. It contrasts the biblical account of literal creation with evolutionary theories, arguing that intelligent design points inevitably to a divine Architect. The preacher emphasizes that God not only initiated the universe but continuously sustains it and cares intimately for every individual. Believers are exhorted to please this Creator through faith in Christ, obedience to His word, walking with Him, and offering praise. Ultimately, the message calls listeners to recognize their dependence on God and to live lives that honor His majesty and purpose.
