On this episode of the Creative Block podcast, I'm joined by Phil Sayers, founder of Proten SD & author of "It's All About The Value". Phil is a sales master and we cover a lot of topics surrounding making more consistent sales and growing your creative business.
Topics include knowing, communicating and demonstrating your value proposition, which is something a lot of creative people struggle with. You can no longer just "be the guy with the camera". What is it about the service you provide that makes you different to the client? What results can you achieve for them? We also discuss how to react to common client objections over price and experience, as well as how builiding an emotional relationship with a potential client rather than just a transactional one, will massively increase your chances of landing the sale.
So if you're looking to grow your creative business and increase the consistency of your sales, this episode will help you a lot.
We have some big news to tell you. Something that affects the future of the Creative Block Podcast. It means no more moaning from Amy...(thank god) and a lot of great tips of how to break into creative industries.
Listen to find out what’s happened which really determines the future of the Creative Block podcast… Have I mentioned it determines the future of the podcast? Because if I haven't mentioned it yet...it does.
(Amy also has a sip of wine and gets instantly drunk around the 16 min mark so it's worth watching just for that).

On this episode of the Creative Block podcast, I dive deep into the world of networking with Dawn Torrington, founder of Doing Biz For Yourself. Dawn is a networking queen and we cover a lot of topics surrounding networking including how you're probably already networking without realising it.
We also discuss how networking can be seen as a dirty word and how repositioning it as relationship building and a way to connect with people dampens a lot of people's anxieties. One of the biggest points I took away from this conversation is that to be successful at networking (whatever that is), you don't have to be the loudest, most boisterous, extrovert ever and that actually, having good listening skills is just as important.
So if you're like me and have had reservations about networking and whether it's for you or not, this episode will help you a lot. If you want access to the audio version only, it's available on these platforms below.

On this episode of the Creative Block podcast, I had the pleasure of chatting to Dan Moore, founder of DM Commercial Photography.
I know I say it every episode, but this is genuinely a really great episode. We cover a lot of topics including how doing free work should only be on your terms and why it's a dirty word in the creative industries. We also discuss our relationship with time and why creative people often find it hard to switch off mentally, and give themselves the time off and how going to workshops as a form of networking was invaluable to Dan's career and business progression.

On this episode of the Creative Block podcast, Amy & I discuss the damaging claim that between the ages of 18-25, this is the age where you can build your life or destroy it. This conversation was spark from an actual post that Amy saw on LinkedIn from a highly influential person on that particular platform. We discuss how blatantly wrong that claim is and how social media can give a platform to people with big audiences to spout this kind of tripe without any thought or care. It's a really good ep this.

On this episode of the Creative Block podcast, me and Amy talk about our relationship with social media and whether you need a big following on there to be successful as a creative.
There's so many different platforms now, with different features and it can be quite overwhelming at times to be posting consistently. I'd argue that it's better it post your best work less often, than post rubbish work every day, but that's just my opinion. See you what you think, in this episode.

On this episode of the Creative Block podcast, me and Amy talk about our biggest setbacks in both our professional and personal life. I also put out a lonely hearts ad, all responses welcome.
We all go through massive highs and low lows during our lives and it only seems to be with time that we seem to accept that and realise it's going to be all rosy all of the time. But it's how we deal with setbacks that are the real test and a lot of the time, make us 100% better for it. If you want access to the audio version only, it's available on these platforms below.

On this episode of the Creative Block podcast, Amy "sits down" over zoom with her good friend and ex-colleague of mine Kaya Aftab to talk about how taking risks, manufacturing chances and seizing opportunities puts you in a much stronger position to reach your potential as a creative. After starting out as a phone op for BBC 5 Live, Kaya is now a producer for BBC Asian Network and landed her dream job in London after what felt like a hundred rejections and setbacks.
Amy and Kaya discuss whether these opportunities that come people's way are down to luck or pure hard work and determination. This is a must listen for anyone wanting to break into a media role and a creative industry but don't know exactly how to go about it.
