This week in our public square we sit down with with Prof. Yehuda Mirsky to discuss Religious Zionism, its roots, aims, and the impact it is having on Israel today.
Prof. Mirsky is the author of ‘Rav Kook: Mystic in a Time of Revolution.’ We will be discussing the ideology of Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, founder of Religious Zionism, and how his teachings are being interpreted by certain members of the modern religious zionist movement today.
This will be a journey from the early 1900's and the beginnings of the Zionist movement, to the founding of Israel in 1948, to Meir Kahane in the 1980's, and to Smotrich and Ben Gvir today.

Following the publication of his bestselling polemic Jews Don't Count, David has been at the forefront of tackling antisemitism in the media, particularly as it manifests on the progressive left. Dr. Shikaki is a professor of political science, director of the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PCPSR) in Ramallah, and member of the steering committee of the Arab Barometer. He is also a senior fellow at the Crown Center for Middle East Studies at Brandeis University.

Eugene is a professor at George Mason’s Antonin Scalia School of Law, and the director of its Center for International Law in the Middle East. Before coming to George Mason, he had been a professor at Northwestern University School of Law for 11 years.
An expert in international and constitutional law, he has published over thirty academic articles in the leading law reviews and peer-reviewed journals. His scholarship has been cited in leading international law cases in the U.S. and abroad.
Eugene is also the head of the International Law Department at the Kohelet Policy Forum, a Jerusalem-based think tank, and is recognized as one of the world’s preeminent experts on international law and the Israel-Arab conflict.

Matti is a former Associated Press correspondent whose work as a reporter has taken him from Israel to Lebanon, Morocco, Moscow, the Caucasus, and Washington, DC. He has been a regular essayist for the New York Times opinion section, and his writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, Tablet Magazine, and elsewhere. He has also written a number of books including 'Spies of No Country,' the story of Israel’s first intelligence agents in 1948.
