When Editor in Chief at In Style Magazine, her inclusive, warm and witty worldview gave voice to new fashion, celebrity and activist leaders garnering unprecedented global following on the socials.

Post In Style, Laura founded multi-platform media company LB Media using her down to earth humour to celebrate creativity by building community across film, television, podcasting, luxury collaborations, design, non-profit consulting and as she would say “general MFG” (Meddling for Good).

Today we travel to the lush hinterland of Gumbaynggirr – country in Bellingen to meet creative force writer/producer/podcaster Courtney Collins.
 
Courtney's stunning new novel, BIRD will be published  in July 2024 by Hachette Australia.

Her first novel, The Burial, was published in ten countries and shortlisted for the Nita B Kibble Literary Award, NSW Premier's Literary Award  and the Stella Prize.

She created the Ngukurr Story Projects when living  in the remote Northern Territory  in collaboration with Ngukurr Language Centre and Ngukurr Art Centre, to support local Indigenous storytellers to "tell the stories they want to tell in the language they want to tell it in”.

Her podcast produced by Lisa Madden,  “Are you still working? How to take your creative ideas seriously" is available now!

Courtney holds a Master of Creative Writing and is completing a PhD titled 'Working Against Whiteness in Creative Literary Production'. She is at work on her third novel. Courtney is an Asialink Fellow and Sidney Myer Creative Fellow,

Today we travel to the wild forest of Wicklow in Ireland where we meet creative force cultural activist and creative entrepreneur Kathy Scott.

Creative Director of  The Trailblazery creating immersive events, learning experiences and collaborative projects on and offline. 

Kathy is indeed a blazer of trails gathering thousands of people together across the globe for the transformational women’s space Moon Medicine and Moon Medicine Academy, for the award-winning Hedge School, Scoil Scairte her Irish Culture, Heritage and Language programme  and through her creative mentorships just to mention few.

At the root of it all is her desire to find pathways to nudge humanity forward by inspiring people to lift each other up along the way and in doing so she invites everyone to the party artists, elders, activists, healers, poets and professors

Kathy is a senior yoga and meditation teacher with 20+ years experience and trained formally in Sivananda, Anusara and Kundalini methods. Kathy trained with Thomas Hübl at The Pocket Project – a global movement dedicated to deepening our understanding and integration of collective and intergenerational trauma. Completed an intensive year studying with Dr.Gabor Maté in the field of Compassionate Inquiry.

She holds a Masters in Arts Criticism and Cultural Policy from London City University and was creative-in-residence in the field of Neurohumanities at Trinity College Dublin in 2018.

 Today we are heading to the banks of the Millewa (the murray River) in Albury on Wiradjuri Country to meet the creative force that is Indigenous scholar Michelle Evans Associate Professor of Leadership and Associate Dean, Indigenous at the University of Melbourne and Melbourne Business School, specialising in the areas of Indigenous leadership and entrepreneurship.

Michelle is the Director of the Dilin Duwa Centre for Indigenous Business Leadership and co-Founder of Australia’s number one Indigenous Business Master Class program, MURRA.

Prior to academia, Dr Evans was Founder of the Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development at the Victorian College of Arts. Together with her research, this provides a unique combination of professional experience in management, community engagement and facilitation in Indigenous leadership and policy development. She has been consulted by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, OECD and other public institutions as well as leading Australian organisations.

 Michelle's latest research - the Indigenous Economic Power Project Snapshot 3.0.  An  overview of the Indigenous business ecosystem launches online Wednesday April 17th.

Dr Evans has been awarded five Australian Research Council competitive grants and a Fulbright Scholarship and is widely published in this space. She teaches predominantly at senior executive and postgraduate levels.

Today we head to the forest to a tiny village outside Edinburgh to meet Creative Force visual artist Kirsty Whiten.

 Kirsty’s art is provocative, tender, exquisite and bold traversing painting, drawing, collage and most recently sculpture and short film. Kirsty has crafted a rich, creative life creating large and small scale works that explore ritual, acts of transgression, disrupting gender and identity politics along the way. Her meticulous treatment of her subjects is a kind of reverence, she uses the detail, time-hungry technique and ambiguity to deepen the emotional impact, striving to make frank images and to communicate very directly and intimately

Represented by Arusha Gallery in Edinburgh, she has exhibited work across Europe, Australia and the U.K participated in cross-disciplinary collaborations in New York and Denmark, including the completion of a gable-end mural in Tay Street Lane, Dundee, with text artist Fandangoekid in 2019.  Kirsty trained at Edinburgh Art School and is a life-drawing at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art.
