    5. 13 // Wondering how to host in a small home? 5 simple tips to use for your next gathering

Is your home really too small to host—or are you waiting for your circumstances to feel “perfect” before opening your door?

What could change in your friendships and community if you started gathering people in the home you have right now?

How can creativity and a willingness to be flexible transform even a small space into a place of hospitality and connection?

Think your home is too small to host? You’re not alone. In this episode, I’m sharing 5 practical tips for hosting in a small home and how I learned to stop letting the size, layout, or imperfections of my house keep me from practicing hospitality. From intentionally limiting your guest list and rearranging furniture to using outdoor spaces and embracing intimate gatherings, we’ll talk about simple ways to make hosting at home work for your family and your space. Whether you live in an apartment, a small house, or simply don’t have a large entertaining space, you don’t need a minimum guest count—or a perfect home—to start gathering people.

We’ll also talk about the deeper heart behind Christian hospitality and homemaking: the willingness to open your home and create a place where people can connect, share a meal, and feel welcomed. After years of hosting in small spaces—including gatherings with up to 40 adults and children—I’ve learned that the biggest obstacle usually isn’t the square footage; it’s our willingness to send the invitation. If you’ve been waiting until your home is bigger, nicer, or more “ready” to host, this episode is your encouragement to change your perspective, get creative with your space, and open your home anyway.

      5. 12 // Hosting as a Hobby: How I Hosted My First Gathering in Our New Home

What if hosting isn’t about having a perfect home, impressive food, or a Pinterest-worthy party—but simply creating a place for people to belong?

How can you make hosting easier, less stressful, and realistic for your family—even when you have kids, a busy schedule, and a home that isn’t perfect?

Could opening your home to friends, family, and neighbors become a simple way to build community and naturally live out your faith?

Hosting doesn’t have to be complicated—and your home doesn’t have to be perfect to open it to others. In this episode, I’m giving you my real-life reference guide to hosting what I’m calling a Kickoff Party: a simple gathering built around something worth celebrating, whether that’s a new home, the start of football season, a new baby, a new job, or simply the changing season. I’m sharing how we planned and hosted our first gathering in our new home, including our theme and decor, digital invitations, food prep, activities, cleaning checklist, and the things I’d do differently next time. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at what actually goes into hosting about 20 people when you have kids, including what I prepped ahead, what I delegated to my husband, and how I kept the food and setup relatively low-maintenance.

But more than just party planning, this episode is about why hospitality matters. Hosting isn’t about showing off your home or proving that you’re a good homemaker—it’s about creating space for people to connect, laugh, eat, talk, and feel welcomed. We’ll talk about why having an activity can make gatherings less awkward, how creating a child-friendly home can make parents feel truly cared for, and why hospitality is a skill we have to practice. Most importantly, we’ll look at how our homes can become a natural place for community, connection, and evangelization—not because we have to preach, but because the way we welcome and love people can quietly reflect Christ.

          5. 11 // Wish you had deeper female friendships? 3 steps to build you supportive village as a mom

Have you been craving deeper friendships, but aren't sure where to start?

What if your hobbies could become the starting point for the friendships and community you've been missing?

How might sharing your God-given creativity with other women change the way you experience motherhood and homemaking?

In this episode, we’re talking about how to build community through creativity and why our hobbies can be so much more than something we do in our spare time. As moms, it can be easy for our friendships to revolve entirely around our children, leaving us longing for deeper connections with women who know us beyond our role as mothers. We’ll explore why having a creative outlet matters, how hobbies can bring more joy and peace into motherhood, and why every woman deserves something that allows her to use and develop her God-given gifts.

I’m breaking down three simple steps for building stronger female friendships through creativity: Create, Connect, and Community. You’ll learn how to discover a hobby that genuinely brings you joy, use that shared interest to connect with other women, and turn those connections into a meaningful community by continuing to show up and generously sharing your gifts. We’ll also talk about the importance of building community locally, creating the supportive “village” we often say we’re missing, and how our faith can shape the friendships and communities we cultivate. And stick around until the end as we step into a new season of the podcast focused on creativity, hospitality, homemaking, and creating a home where people feel welcomed and connected.

Have you ever wondered how your hobbies and interests are supposed to change as your season of motherhood changes?

Do you feel like you need more time before you can make space for the hobbies and creative interests you enjoy?

What if the hobbies you discover in motherhood could actually become productive tools to make homemaking easier?

In today’s episode, I’m sharing a little more of my personal journey through careers, motherhood, and the changing seasons of my life—and how each one has shaped the way I see creativity and hobbies today. From working corporate to becoming a stay-at-home mom and eventually working again, I’ve learned that creativity doesn’t always look the same from one season to the next, and neither do our hobbies. We’ll talk about discovering new creative gifts in motherhood, creating habits that make space for the things that bring you joy, and learning to use creativity as a way to find peace even when life feels full. Most importantly, I want to encourage you to stop trying to reclaim who you were before motherhood and instead prayerfully discover who God is calling you to become in this season. Whether you’re working, staying home, or somewhere in between, I hope this episode encourages you to notice what brings you joy, explore what you’re curious about, and give yourself permission to enjoy a hobby simply because it makes you feel more like yourself.
