The only problem with letting your unconscious solve a hole in your plot is that it most likely will reveal the solution to you just as you’re falling asleep. If you don’t get it down, it’ll be buried by morning. So I wake myself up enough to dictate some notes and close my eyes. Either I’ll fall asleep now peacefully or I’ll get the next idea and this could rinse and repeat for a while. Nothing makes me get off social media faster than feeling like I’m being played. The push to make posts that generate interest in a topic only to then force you to read the caption to find out what it is, often burying the information way down on the bottom of caption just to keep you watching longer… It’s a theft of my time.
