Created by Internet user Alex Hall, or "Jadusable", the story tells of a college student named Matt who bought a used copy of the video game The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask from an elderly man at a yard sale, only to find out that the cartridge is haunted by the ghost of a boy named Ben, who drowned. After deleting Ben's save file, Matt has been presented with disturbing glitches and scary messages usually saying "You shouldn't have done that..." or "You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"

CreaturePasta Episode 4 - The Wendigo

Welcome to CreaturePasta, an incomplete field guide to creaturepasta critters, gaming beasts, and horror monsters, brought to you by Digital and Dice.

In Algonquian folklore, the wendigo or windigo is a mythical cannibal monster or evil spirit native to the northern forests of the Atlantic Coast and Great Lakes Region of both the United States and Canada. The wendigo may appear as a monster with some characteristics of a human, or as a spirit who has possessed a human being and made them become monstrous. It is historically associated with cannibalism, murder, insatiable greed, and the cultural taboos against such behaviours.

The legend lends its name to the controversial modern medical term Wendigo psychosis, described by psychiatrists as a culture-bound syndrome with symptoms such as an intense craving for human flesh and a fear of becoming a cannibal. In some Indigenous communities, environmental destruction and insatiable greed are also seen as a manifestation of Wendigo psychosis

A horrific creature formed by necessity driven hunger gone mad.

In the vast expanses of the Boreal Realms, there exists legends of the indigenous people. Legends to explain ideas greater than themselves. Legends to pass lessons of life from elder to minor. Stories of heroes, and cryptids battling in a never ceasing battles of good and evil.

Of these legends, one of the most fearsome of these cryptids is the Dreaded Wendigo. A spirit of cannibalism that possesses the weak of will. When tribesmen are isolated in their homes, trapped by the deep snows and treacherous cold, and the scarcity of food seeps deeper into the soul, the ravenous nature of the Wendigo begins to take hold.

CreaturePasta Episode 3 - Succubus and Incubus

Welcome to CreaturePasta, an incomplete field guide to creaturepasta critters, gaming beasts, and horror monsters, brought to you by Digital and Dice.

This is the third episode of our new show where we're going to talk about various creatures, their origins, and how to use them in your role playing game.

A succubus is a Lilin-demon in female form, or supernatural entity in folklore (traced back to medieval legend) that appears in dreams and takes the form of a woman in order to seduce men, usually through sexual activity. The male counterpart is the incubus. Religious traditions hold that repeated sexual activity with a succubus may result in the deterioration of health or mental state, or even death.

In modern representations, a succubus may or may not appear in dreams and is often depicted as a highly attractive seductress or enchantress; whereas, in the past, succubi were generally depicted as frightening and demonic.

  • Episode 2 - Draugr - CreaturePasta

The draugr or draug (Old Norse: draugr, plural draugar; modern Icelandic: draugur, Faroese: dreygur and Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian: draug), also called aptrganga or aptrgangr, literally "again-walker" (Icelandic: afturganga) is an undead creature from Norse mythology.

The word draugr can be traced to a Proto-Indo European stem *dʰrowgʰos "phantom", from *dʰrewgʰ- "deceive". The Old Norse meaning of the word is a revenant.

The will appears to be strong, strong enough to draw the hugr [animate will] back to one's body. These reanimated individuals were known as draugar. However, though the dead might live again, they could also die again. Draugar die a "second death" as Chester Gould calls it, when their bodies decay, are burned, dismembered or otherwise destroyed.

Draugar live in their graves, often guarding treasure buried with them in their burial mound. They are animated corpses—unlike ghosts they have a corporeal body with similar physical abilities as in life. Older literature makes clear distinctions between sea-draugar and land-draugar.

The Slender Man (also known as Slenderman) is a fictional supernatural character that originated as a creepypasta Internet meme created by Something Awful forums user Eric Knudsen (also known as "Victor Surge") in 2009. It is depicted as a thin, unnaturally tall man with a featureless head and face, wearing a black suit.

The Slender Man is not confined to a single narrative, but appears in many disparate works of fiction, typically composed online. Fiction relating to the Slender Man encompasses many media, including literature, art and video series such as Marble Hornets. Outside of online fiction, the Slender Man has had impact on popular culture, having been referenced in the video game Minecraft and generated video games of his own, such as Slender: The Eight Pages and Slender: The Arrival.
