God made you. God knows you thoroughly and completely. God is with you everywhere. Everywhere. Why? Because He is your Creator. He made you and He did not just wind you up, let you go and forget about you.

Imagine David as a young man shepherding his father’s sheep. He would scout the land for the best place for his sheep to graze. He would keep an eye out for trouble and rescue them when they got themselves in trouble or when they were attacked. Because David was a good shepherd, the sheep felt safe in his presence. They knew their needs were taken care of.

This morning we get a look at David’s last words and see what it is to speak by the Spirit. We also see what it means to go to battle in the power of the Spirit. It would be a foolish thing to go to battle without soldiers and weapons. But when David decided to he just had to know how many men he had who could go to battle, he was showing a lack of faith in God’s ability to fight for His people. And a plague was in the making. David’s repentance and costly sacrifice give us an example to follow and a glimpse into the future of God’s people. Poet warriors who speak and wage war in the power of the Spirit of Truth – that is our calling.
