We finish the "M-Messiah" section of the CASKET-EMPTY timeline this week. Our focus is on Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, His teaching ministry during the next few days, His celebration of Passover with the disciples (the Last Supper), His death on the cross, and glorious resurrection.

CASKET-EMPTY continues with E-Expectations. Continuing our historical walk through the Intertestamental Period, 430 BC- 6 BC. Israel became part of the Greek world and struggled to regain their independence. During the Hasmonean Dynasty, Salome Alexandra was queen during a prosperous time in Judah. After Roman rule was established Israel awaited the coming fulfillment of ten promises from the Old Testament.

CASKET-EMPTY continues as we move into E-Expectations. This period of 400 years is also known as the "intertestamental period." It begins after Malachi, the last book of the Hebrew Bible is written (about 430BC), and ends with the birth of Christ in about 6BC. Although there are no new books of Scripture written, God's people remember the words of the prophets and see God fulfilling those prophecies, heightening their expectations of the promised coming King.

The first act of CASKET-EMPTY concludes with T - Temple. God's people rebuild the walls and renew the covenant, but they still don't give Him their hearts. Meanwhile, God is positioning people in strategic positions to continue His faithful commitment to His promises.

CASKET-EMPTY continues with T-Temple. God brings His people back from Babylonian captivity to Jerusalem. They immediately begin to rebuild the temple, but soon stop. The LORD sends the prophets Haggai and Zechariah to call the people to build the temple and return to Him.

CASKET-EMPTY continues with E- Exile. God's long withheld judgment for Israel's sin has finally come to pass as he removes his presence from the temple and the people are taken into Babylonian captivity.

CASKET-EMPTY continues with K-Kings. During the reign of Judah's last four kings, God repeatedly sends prophets to warn His people of the coming judgment, to call them to repentance, and with promises of a new and better covenant. Finally, in 586 BC, Babylon conquers Jerusalem.
