In Exodus 3:1-15, Moses is doing ordinary work when God meets him at the burning bush. What happens next teaches us something we all need. God is not a distant idea or an impersonal force. He speaks, He calls, and He reveals His name.
In this lesson we walk through the names God gives in this passage and what they show about His character. We look at “I AM,” “I AM WHO I AM,” and the covenant name the Lord gives to His people, YHWH. We also connect this moment to the bigger story of Scripture, including how Jesus uses language that points back to the God who spoke to Moses.
If you have ever wanted to know God more personally, not just facts about Him, this sermon is a starting point. The goal is simple: to honor His name, trust His presence, and let His word shape how we live and pray.
