In Jacob’s story, he has tricked his father, stole from his brother, and might feel lonely because of his own actions.  Maybe he assumes no one wants to be with him.  But God is faithful and visits Jacob in a dream to tell him he has a future, he has a friend, and to have faith.

Confirmation invites us into a whole other world, just as Pentecost did. We are no longer “preparatory members” or waiting for something more. We are full members, with full responsibilities. As we accept the Holy Spirit that has been put upon us and within us, how far will we show the love of Christ that Jesus has shown to us?

It’s no secret that nearly everyone is trying to achieve SOMETHING — so we try to fit God into the pockets of our lives, making church work for our schedule but only if it fits. What if, instead, we seek to use a spirit of discernment to see where God is leading us. Are we willing to take the risk that would come up?

The story of Peter walking on water is one that we can usually find ourselves laughing at, but who among us hasn't had a moment where we have doubt? Was Peter’s doubt in Jesus or in himself? If we examine the story of Peter more closely, where might we see where he overcame doubt and apply it to our own journey?

We know with our heads that we are commanded to put God first, but then inevitably something gets in the way: a soccer game is scheduled for Sunday morning, the best cruise is the same week as the mission trip, or sometimes we just don’t want to engage with church. Being busy is an excuse we often use as a way of explaining why God doesn’t get our best.

It's ok to have pride in things, accomplishments, and others. It's not ok to be prideful and think you're better than others because of what you do or who you are.

Happy Easter. The story didn't end at the grave like many people thought. The fact that Jesus was raised from the dead is the cornerstone of Christianity. If you don't believe it, then the faith in Jesus falls apart.

Many atonement theories focus on the price that needs to be paid for humanity to be in a proper relationship with God, and reconciliation focuses on God’s willingness to cross the chasm caused by sin and tear down any walls between us and each other.
