Continuing on with our Summer of Blood series, we road trip through the desolate Texas heat to visit with a family of cannibal butchers with THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. This 1974 flick is often regarded as a classic and is firmly planted in the horror Mount Rushmore as one of the “scariest films of all time!” But does it deserve such high praise? What is it about Leatherface that has made him a fixture for over 45 years? And how can a movie with only one chainsaw death be declared a “massacre”? Let’s slather on the sunblock and crank the AC. With all the teen drama of Dawson's Creek lightly mixed with the vibe of Scream, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER was a blockbuster during the fall of 1997. But does it hold up to our memory of the film? Can a movie that's so deeply embedded in the time it was filmed age gracefully? Is the killer even any good? Or should I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER be run over and dropped in the water for fish food?

Often held in high regard amongst horror fans, FRIGHT NIGHT has clearly made an indelible mark as it has spawned a sequel and its own remake. But what is the appeal there? With a milquetoast protagonist and a cowardly hero, this movie doesn't exactly have the recipe for success. Is it the immortal allure of vampires? Is it the undeniable sex appeal of Chris Sarandon? Or is it the strangely relatable Evil Ed?

THE COLLECTOR is a movie that came out during the glut of torture porn in the mid to late '00s. It would appear that a film that was lost in the shuffle may be one of the better ones to come out at that time. And who doesn't love a man in a Gimp mask? Full of traps, gore, twists and turns, THE COLLECTOR came as a surprise to your jaded hosts. 

But as a movie that is middling with horror fans, how do the details hold up? How did a movie with so much potential become so lost? And enough with the bugs already!
