JetStar cabin crew members are concerned the company's not checking people's vaccine passes or evidence of negative tests.

At the beginning of the week, the airline introduced a new policy requiring all passengers older than 12 years and three months to be fully vaccinated or have evidence of a negative covid test result from within 72 hours of departure.

But there are numerous reports on social media that neither are being checked.

A JetStar spokesperson said: "All Jetstar customers are required to complete a pre-flight health and vaccination declaration at the time of check-in, and spot checks of certificates or pre departure test results are taking place across all airports in New Zealand.

"We also send all customers sms and email alerts prior to their trip to advise them of the vaccination and testing requirements to travel" .

E Tu's head of aviation, Savage, spoke to Māni Dunlop about the difficulties of getting answers out of the airline.
