  • Ep. 28: Christa Pike: The Murder of Colleen Slemmer & the Execution She Survived

Colleen Slemmer was 19 when she moved to Knoxville to study computers and build a future. Months later, she was lured off campus and brutally murdered by classmates. Christa Pike believed Colleen wanted her boyfriend. She would later show other students a piece of Colleen’s skull.

This week, we cover the murder that sent Pike to death row, the disturbing behavior that followed, and the decades of appeals leading to an execution attempt she survived. We discuss her childhood abuse, the arguments for sparing her life, and the medical warnings her attorneys say Tennessee ignored.

With Pike hospitalized after the failed lethal injection, Colleen’s mother is left facing more uncertainty after 30 years of waiting. We’re talking about how this happened, what remains unresolved, and the young woman whose life was taken long before this case became an execution headline.

Content warning: Graphic violence, childhood sexual abuse, and discussion of an execution attempt.

Would you have stayed? Because we’re pretty sure we wouldn’t have finished unpacking.

  • Ep. 26: Caleb Flynn: American Idol, an Affair, and 100,000 Messages

Caleb Flynn once appeared on American Idol. Now he’s on trial for the murder of his wife, Ashley, after telling police an intruder broke into their Ohio home and shot her while their two daughters were inside.

But investigators uncovered an affair with a woman from his church and more than 100,000 messages. Among them were repeated discussions about wanting Ashley dead.

We get into the matching Harry Potter tattoos, the anniversary cruise where Ashley discovered the messages, and what Caleb allegedly promised his mistress hours before the shooting. Plus, the missing gun, the alleged staged break-in, and the defense’s argument that a terrible husband isn’t necessarily a murderer.

This episode covers the evidence presented through September 25, 2026. Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty, and the trial was ongoing at the time of recording.

  • BONUS: The Plastic Surgeon, the Missing Lawyer & the Wagon | Steven Cozzi Case

A Florida attorney disappears from his law office in the middle of the workday. His phone, wallet, and keys are left behind. Blood is discovered in the bathroom. And surveillance footage captures a man leaving the building with a heavily loaded wagon.

The man prosecutors identify in that footage? A plastic surgeon who had been locked in a legal battle with the missing attorney.

In this bonus episode of Crime Snob, Alice and Sandra dive into the murder trial of Dr. Tomasz Kosowski, who is accused of killing attorney Steven Cozzi in March 2023.

We break down the evidence presented in court, including months of internet searches, surveillance footage, suspicious vehicle movements, phone records, and forensic findings that investigators say connect the surgeon to Cozzi's disappearance.

But here's what makes this case even more extraordinary: Cozzi's body has never been found, and the surgeon accused of murdering him is representing himself in a trial where he could face the death penalty.

How do prosecutors build a murder case without a body? What does the digital evidence actually reveal? And what questions remain unanswered?

We're walking you through the timeline, the evidence, and one of the most unusual murder trials we've covered.

This episode discusses an ongoing criminal case. Dr. Kosowski has pleaded not guilty, and no verdict had been reached at the time of recording.

  • Ep. 24: The Sarah Lawrence Cult: A Father, a Dorm Room, and a Decade of Abuse

The Sarah Lawrence Cult: The Disturbing Story of Larry Ray

When Larry Ray moved into his daughter’s dorm at Sarah Lawrence College, nobody could have imagined what would happen next.

What started as a father offering advice to his daughter’s friends turned into a terrifying years-long nightmare of manipulation, humiliation, and abuse.

Ray convinced these young adults that they owed him money for crimes they hadn’t committed, isolated them from their families, and subjected them to increasingly disturbing forms of psychological and physical abuse. One woman was forced into prostitution, generating millions of dollars that Ray controlled.

And somehow, he managed to maintain his grip on them for nearly a decade.

In this episode of Crime Snob, we’re diving into the shocking story of Larry Ray, how he gained control over a group of college students, the horrifying lengths he went to maintain that control, and the investigation that finally brought his crimes to light.

  • Ep. 23: The Murder of Dan Markel

When Florida State University law professor Dan Markel was shot in the garage of his Tallahassee home, investigators knew almost immediately that his murder wasn’t random. But the trail would eventually lead nearly 500 miles away and into the middle of one of the most bitter family conflicts imaginable.

What began with a contentious divorce and custody battle unraveled into an extraordinary murder-for-hire investigation involving two hitmen, a rented Prius, an alleged first attempt, secret recordings, an undercover FBI operation, a bizarre extortion defense, and an airport arrest that came nearly a decade after Dan’s murder.

In this episode of Crime Snob, we break down the murder of Dan Markel and the complicated web connecting Katherine Magbanua, Sigfredo Garcia, Luis Rivera, Charlie Adelson and Donna Adelson, as well as the questions that continue to surround Wendi Adelson.

This is a case where every answer seemed to uncover another layer, and it would take investigators years to reveal just how deep the story went.

  • Ep. 21: Lindsay Clancy: The Outcome | Part 5

We thought Part 4 would be simple: the jury would return with a verdict, we’d talk about what it meant, and after nearly six weeks of trial coverage, the Lindsay Clancy case would finally be over.

    That is not what happened.

After seven days of deliberations, three separate deadlock notes, a woman arrested for allegedly filming members of the jury, a Tuey Rodriguez instruction, an 11 to 1 split, a dispute over a holdout juror, and one final courtroom battle between Kevin Reddington and Judge Sullivan, the first Lindsay Clancy trial ended in a mistrial.

In Part 4, we break down exactly what happened inside and outside the courtroom during those final seven days, why the alleged conduct of one juror became such a major issue, why Kevin tried to take the fight all the way to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, what a mistrial actually means for Lindsay, and what could happen next.
We also talk about the much bigger conversation this case has created around postpartum mental illness, criminal responsibility, motherhood, women’s rights, true crime culture, and the increasingly disturbing way people have been speaking to and about each other online.

Because understanding how something horrific happened is not the same thing as excusing it. Three children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, remain at the center of this story, and whatever anyone believes about Lindsay Clancy, that should never be forgotten.
This is the final chapter of our four part Lindsay Clancy trial coverage… at least for now.

  • Ep. 20: Lindsay Clancy: The Final Week Before the Verdict | Part 4

Lindsay Clancy: The Final Week Before the Verdict

After five weeks of testimony, 85 witnesses, dueling psychiatric experts, explosive cross examinations, a mistrial request, and two completely different closing arguments, the Lindsay Clancy case is finally in the hands of the jury.

In our final trial update before the verdict, we're breaking down everything that happened during the last week in court. The Commonwealth's final rebuttal experts, Kevin Reddington's most heated cross examinations, the fight over Lindsay's mental state, the mistrial request, those now infamous quarters, Jennifer Sprague's closing argument, and what the jury has already asked to see during deliberations.

After everything we've heard over the last five weeks, it all comes down to one question:

Was Lindsay Clancy mentally ill but still criminally responsible or had her illness become so severe that she could no longer appreciate the wrongfulness of what she was doing?

The next time we sit down to talk about this case, we may finally have a verdict.

  • Ep 19. The Defense Begins: Was Lindsay Clancy Criminally Responsible? | Part 3

In Part 3 of our Lindsay Clancy trial coverage, the prosecution rests its case and the defense finally begins to answer the question at the center of this trial: what was happening in Lindsay’s mind on the night she killed her three children?

We break down the first full week of the defense case, including emotional testimony from Lindsay’s mother and family members about the drastic changes they saw in the months leading up to the tragedy, her worsening anxiety and insomnia, medication concerns, and the moments they now recognize as warning signs.

We also get into the battle of the experts. Mental health professionals offer dramatically different interpretations of Lindsay’s condition: including testimony about psychosis, command hallucinations, criminal responsibility, and whether she was capable of understanding the wrongfulness of her actions or controlling her behavior.

Plus, we discuss the medical examiner’s testimony about Lindsay’s injuries from the fall, disputed accounts involving voices Lindsay allegedly heard, and some of the most important moments from cross-examination.

This is not a question of whether Lindsay killed Cora, Dawson, and Callan. She did. The question the jury now has to answer is much more complicated: was she criminally responsible when she did it?

We’re breaking down the testimony, the evidence, the contradictions, and the questions this case raises about postpartum mental health, psychiatric care, and whether this tragedy could have been prevented.

This is Part 3 of Crime Snob’s coverage of the Lindsay Clancy trial.
