Jordan Rich fills in on NightSide with Dan Rea:
Last weekend in Wakefield, MA there was an armed standoff between police and the group Rise of the Moors. Then, this week a 66-year-old man was found gunned down in his Seekonk apartment, and a Malden woman was shot and killed in her apartment. These crimes occurred just a matter of weeks after the Winthrop hate crime against two Black citizens and the Brighton stabbing of a local rabbi. Meanwhile, in Chicago there is an ongoing surge in gun violence. What is causing this spike in crime? Is it the defunding of police departments across the country? It is the declining number of police on the force or the failure to prosecute?
