What happens after an ICU stay? A stay in the ICU can dramatically change patients and their families.
In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Gord Boyd a neurologist, critical care physician, and researcher. We'll discuss the teamwork that it takes to treat patients within the ICU, how best to communicate with families, and what it looks like to recover after an ICU stay.
We'll also discuss their research in the Cerebral Oxygenation and Neurological Outcomes Following Critical Illness Program (CONFOCAL study). Which aims to "understand the association between cerebral oxygenation, delirium, and long-term cognitive outcomes in ICU survivors".
