  • Kadena Sends Aid to Sister Airbase in Northern Japan
    B-roll of Misawa Air Base helping to restore their commercial power that was lost on Friday. Airmen from Kadena Air Base in Okinawa took only a few hours from the telephone recall to getting to the airplane. In addition to the 18th Civil Engineer Group, members of Detachment 1 of the 554th Red Horse Squadron also left Kadena as well. Scenes include the civil engineers packing up their gear, entering buses and interviews before deployment to northern Japan. Soundbites from Command Sgt. Maj.   • 15th Wing Responds to Japan Earthquake/Tsunami
    B-roll of a C-17 Globemaster III and aircrew from the 15th Wing's 535th Airlift Squadron departed Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, for Japan March 12 to deliver four electricity generators and personnel to Japan in support of humanitarian relief efforts in the wake of an earthquake and tsunami striking the country March 11. The seven person aircrew consisted of three pilots, two loadmasters, and two crew chiefs. The team transported 25 JBPH-H Airmen from a variety of Air Force specialties to Yokota Air Base, Japan, where they will provide support to efforts underway to support the government of Japan.   • III MEF Marines Provide Assistance in Wake of Earthquake, Tsunami in Japan
    Marines with the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, load palettes of food, water and medical supplies into a KC-130J Super Hercules aircraft on the Marine Corps Air Station Futenma flight line March 12, to provide assistance in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan, March 11. The aircraft carries more than 8,600 pounds of supplies to assist the victims of the disaster. Marines will work through the night loading planes with more supplies and personnel to be delivered to affected areas. The proximity of Marine aviation assets at MCAS Futenma has allowed Marines from III MEF to rapidly deploy critically-needed supplies and aid to areas that need it most.

    B-roll of CH-46E Sea Knight helicopters with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, prepare to depart Marine Corps Air Station Futenma in Okinawa bound for Naval Air Facility Atsugi on mainland Japan to provide assistance in the wake of the earthquakes and tsunami that struck Japan. The helicopters will carry rescue equipment more than 1,000 miles and be configured for the full spectrum of rescue operations to include rescue ashore, patient transfer, casualty transfer, internal and external cargo transport and personnel transport. The squadron deployed half its assets to support relief efforts within four hours of being tasked. The rest of the squadron is also scheduled to depart for the mainland. Soundbite from Lt. Col.
