In John 20, the disciples are locked in a room, afraid, hiding from the people who killed the one they had followed. Jesus walks right into the middle of it and gives them three things: peace, purpose, and power. He does not wait for their circumstances to change first. He steps into the chaos and settles what is happening inside them, then He sends them out.

Following Jesus begins inwardly, but it always leads outwardly. What He puts in you was never meant to stop with you.

Before Jesus ever sent anyone out, He called them to come and be with Him.

In Week 2 of The Way, Pastor Vincent Silmon opens Mark 3 and points to 

something easy to miss: Jesus went up the mountain, called the ones He 

wanted, and they came to Him. The sending came second. As Pastor Vincent 

put it, our first calling is to be with Jesus.

From there we walk into John 15 and the picture of the vine and the 

branches, where fruit is not something we manufacture but something that 

grows out of staying connected. Then we sit down in Luke 10 with two 

sisters: one busy in the kitchen doing good work, one on the floor at 

His feet. Only one of them was told she had found the thing that could 

not be taken from her.

Jesus desires a life shared with us. So the question this week is a 

simple one and a hard one:

Pastor Vincent Silmon brings Week 8 of Unashamed, walking through Romans 13:8-14.

Paul says love is the one debt you never finish paying. He also says the clock is running. The night is almost gone, the day of salvation is nearer now than when we first believed, and the way you live should look like you know it.

The greatest evidence that Jesus lives in you is not what you know, but how you love. An unashamed life doesn't delay obedience. It lives like the time is now.

Pastor Vincent continues the Unashamed series at Cross Church Denton with a message from Romans 12:1-8 titled "Unashamed to Be Different."

For the first eleven chapters of Romans, Paul focuses on everything God has done for us through Jesus Christ. We have been justified, sanctified, and made righteous. We no longer have to live in condemnation because we have been set free from sin. But in Romans 12, Paul makes a shift. The focus moves from what Jesus has done to how we respond to it. Because it is not enough just to know it.

All of us want to fit in. On some level we all seek approval and want to be accepted. But as followers of Jesus Christ, we were never meant to fit in.

In this message:

Surrender is our grateful response to God's mercy and it is our greatest act of worship. You cannot be different unless you first learn to let go.

A living sacrifice is a life fully surrendered to God, giving Him complete control, every day choosing to say: Lord, my plans, my family, my career, my money, my body, my future, my entire life belongs to you.

What shapes your mind will ultimately shape your life. Do not copy the behaviors and customs of the world. Ask yourself: is your Bible shaping your thoughts, or your social media feed? Is it your prayer life, or your politics? Is it contentment, or comparison?

Transformation is not instant. It is a process that began the day you gave your life to Christ and does not end until you are transfigured into life eternal.

It is good to know who you are, but do not forget whose you are. When it comes to how we see ourselves, we fall into two ditches: pride and insecurity. They look like opposites, but both are rooted in the same problem. Both are self-focused. When we know whose we are, we no longer have to prove who we are.

God did not save us to leave us sitting on the sideline. You were not saved to be a consumer. You were saved to be a contributor. In faith, there is no bench. Every part of the body has a purpose and a role, and serving is one of the true markers of transformation.

If you have been forgiven, why do you still feel condemned?

In week 5 of Unashamed, Pastor Melissa opens Romans 8 and shows us the life the Holy Spirit makes possible. This is where Paul shifts from what Christ has done FOR us to what God is now doing IN us. The invitation is simple and hard at the same time: stop striving to earn a verdict God has already given, and start living from it.

Here is the truth that anchors the whole message: you cannot live unashamed while you are still living defeated.

A few things to hold onto: The enemy knows your name but calls you by your sin. Jesus knows your sin yet calls you by your name. You are not a pardoned criminal on probation. You are an adopted son or daughter who gets to cry out, Abba, Father. And the Spirit is not asking you to try harder. He is asking you to surrender more.
