Whenever Christians go into prayer, we enter the Throne room of God. We have access to God’s presence because our faith is in Jesus Christ. Hebrews 4:16 says, “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” When we pray, “Our Father in Heaven” we are entering into His Eden headquarters to confer with Him. More than that we are being reminded that we are His Holy people, called to live a holy life, worshipping Him and doing His will. The Bible says that The Name—His name—represents His presence. ‘The Name’ is actually a title for God. His Name was in the burning bush, His name was in the Tabernacle where the pillar of fire burned by day and His Name was in every believer on the Day of Pentecost. When we pray, Hallowed be Thy name, we are asking God for grace to live Holy lives since His name dwells within us; this is why we are called Christ-ians (Christians). Revelation 22:4 says, And they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads. The opening lines of this prayer reveals a glorious truth: God is in us and expects us to live holy lives, instep with His rule and Kingdom purposes.
