The night before the cross, Jesus assured His disciples that He will come back to take them to His Father’s house. But what will life look like between His departure and His return? In John 14:12-31, Jesus gives 7 benefits to His departure for his disciples, showing us that Jesus has provided His disciples with everything we need as we await His return.
Jesus’ disciples are troubled as they anticipate Jesus departing from them the night before the cross. Into that troubled state Jesus speaks words of comfort to them, teaching us that the Son who is united with the Father is the sure Way to the Father.
As Jesus anticipates the cross, he shares one last evening with his disciples. In that conversation that begins with this passage, he prepares his disciples for his departure, and his first command to them in his absence is that they love one another.
The night before Jesus’ crucifixion, he washed his disciples’ feet. What is the significance of this surprising act of humble service? In this sermon, Pastor Adam reintroduces our series through the Gospel of John and shows us from Jesus’ foot-washing followed by Judas’ betrayal that the unwashed must be washed, the washed must wash, and even the unwashed must obey.
What a house is built on is the most important part of its construction. In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus uses an illustration of two different types of foundations that a person can build their life on. Listen to this special message on Cross of Grace’s 1-year anniversary and its first morning service as Jesus shows us that when the storm comes, the house built on Christ will stand, while all others will fall.

Do you think of yourself as worthy or unworthy in relation to God? Listen to Mike Nixon preach from Psalm 21, showing us that the unbeliever is worthy of judgment, while the believer is unworthy of blessing, but receives it by God’s grace in Christ.
