During this Easter season, we are examining the stories of some key people involved in the Easter story. We’ll see how their stories relate to our personal lives. Even though it’s now over 2,000 years later we’ll see how we are all still called to be Easter People. Today, we will all realize and agree that, “This Changes Everything!”

We're coming off of the sermon series of Chasing Convenience and I believe the Lord has laid upon my heart to

ask and challenge the question WHAT NOW? Our circumstances are not so tightly and clean. Many of us are struggling with this idea of leaning into the inconvenience in our lives and allowing God to grow us but we may lack understanding as well as biblical principles examples of what that really looks like in my situation. When you look up the definition of “convenience” you read words and phrases like; favorable, easy, comfortable; personal comfort or easy performance; freedom from difficulty. They all sound appealing but they’re all focused on our situation. God is more concerned with changing us which then will change our situation. Today, we’ll look at Challenge over Convenience.

There are things that God desires to happen in our lives that won’t happen unless we pray and fast. We’ll pray when we have too; but will we deny ourselves when we need too? Fasting breaks strongholds, liberates people, and moves us into a realm of realizing God’s power in our lives. There are things that God wills for us to do that we will not have the power to bring about unless we have spent time with Him. Fasting is abstaining from food (or other things) in order to give ourselves to prayer and fellowship with the Lord. We can literally eat ourselves out of God’s will. There are some blessings from God we will never receive unless we dethrone our King Stomach. Fasting is more than just missing a meal. Its power shows up because we commit to spend additional time in God’s presence.
