Just as John the Baptist did, we can live from our identity in Jesus and we can live for God’s mission.

Advent is a celebration of the coming king—that God has been faithful to come through with his ancient plan.

Through Jesus we come to know the truth that frees our souls, and we learn to trust by releasing our hearts to Jesus in an all-out, radical surrender to his love.

We “die to the flesh” by cultivating a posture of receptivity to the Holy Spirit’s presence and meaning in us, and by giving up on our attempts to find presence and meaning apart from the Holy Spirit.

The world is an enemy of the soul because it normalizes and champions ways of life that are contrary to God’s design.

The devil’s end goal is death because there is no truth in him. Jesus calls us to identify lies and encounter truth.

Unbelief is belief in a lie. Followers of Jesus are called to identify any lies we are believing and to encounter the truth of Jesus.

Enemies of the soul work overtime—and all the time—against the work of the Holy Spirit within us. And because we live from the ideas that we believe, we must identify the lies we have come to believe.

You were made to have kingdom impact—that truth sits at the heart of Jesus’ teachings about his followers being salt and light.

Jesus calls his followers to have the mind of a peacemaker while expecting the potential of persecution along the way. We can see conflict as an opportunity to glorify God, serve others, and spiritually grow.
