James 3:1-12 Our speech is powerful. We can think of all the ways words have had the tremendous ability to raise up or tear down throughout history. So, what does God think about our speech? And what might that tell us about who we are? Listen this week as Pastor Andrew continues his study of the book of James.

Gen 8:1-22 Our passage today comes on the heels of a devastating event in human history - the flood: God's judgment on sin. So where does that leave Noah and his family? Did they wonder, "has God forgotten about us?" Even in the midst of such great darkness and devastation God had not forgotten about His people. And he does not forget about us in or times of greatest needed. His grace is truly amazing! Listen this week as we observe how God pours out His grace in our lives when we need it the most.

James 2:14-26 Paul teaches that we are saved "by grace through faith." James says "faith without work is dead." So, which is it? Is it faith or is it works? And are James and Paul at odds with one another? We consider those questions this week as we reach the pinnacle of James' letter with Pastor Andrew.

Gen 7:1-24 Have you ever seen decorations of Noah's ark in babies' nurseries? They're usually very cute and playful. However, isn't it ironic that the flood was one of the most severe displays of God's judgment on sin? Knowing that might make us feel quite differently about our nursery themes! We're going to look at the account of the flood and also God's great plan of salvation today. Although there is certainly great terror associated with God's judgment, rest assured God always gives great hope.

James 2:8-13 Last week James challenged us to think about how we often wrongly favor some people and not others. This week we consider the flip side to that. We can have a propensity to judge others. It's part of being human! Unfortunately, it's also a sign that you might not be saved. So, let's listen closely this week as James shows us how faith and being judgmental are not consistent with one another.

Gen 6:1-22 Sometimes when we don't see something it can be easy to not believe it. Take outer space for example. You might not be able to see the universe in its fullness from your back yard. However, that doesn't mean it's not there. Well, Noah was facing that too. There had never been a flood or even rain before the ark was built. Yet, it didn't mean that God was not actively orchestrating all things, even that which had never happened before. So, what is God asking you to believe today?

James 2:1-7 We have to admit that it can be easy to favor some people over others. And certainly when it comes to our family or our closest friends, there must be a level of love and care that is different from other people in your life. However, when does that become favoritism? And more importantly in God's eyes, when does that become sinful? We consider that as we continue our study in James.

Gen 4:25-5:32 Genealogies are probably not the usual place that you expect to find an exciting message. However, God includes everything in the Scriptures for a purpose. And rest assured there is much to learn and benefit from in Genesis chapter 5. God has placed younger people in each of our lives-whether your own children, younger folks in the church, nieces and nephews, etc. What kind of heritage will you leave behind?

James 1:22-27 What does it mean to be a "doer of the Word." Well, we can all admit that it's easier to say things than it is to do them. So, what is James calling us to as he tell us to not just be "hearers of the Word?" We consider that this week as Pastor Andrew continues a series in the book of James.

Gen 4 It was bad enough that Adam and Eve sinned in the garden and were cast out. Sin would bring with it discord, suffering, and all kinds of evil, including murder. You may know that Cain murdered his brother Abel, but did you ever give much thought to the question of 'why?' Sure, Cain may have been ashamed because God wasn't pleased with his sacrifice, but why would that drive Cain to murder his brother? This week we look at how murder begins in the heart, and what drives those sinful thoughts.
