Matthew recorded five of Jesus' sermons. In Matthew 24-25, he preached about the end of the world. Contrary to most expectations, Jesus wasn't trying to create good "predictor's" about the end times but good followers in an increasingly troubled world.

As Paul and Barnabas finish the "first missionary journey" in the book of Acts they are faced with a new enemy to the gospel — idolatry. This Sunday we looked at what Idolatry is, why it’s so dangerous, and what God provides to help us to “turn” away from idolatry in our lives.

As we continued to outline Paul’s first missionary journey we observed how much he suffered. Despite illness, mistreatment, and rejection, Paul never stopped moving forward. As we seek to persevere in faith in the face of trials, we can look to Paul’s example and to the resources he relied upon that gave him the strength to never give up.

In Acts 13, Paul continues his first missionary journey, traveling dangerous roads and facing much opposition. In this message, Pastor Josh looked at one of Paul's synagogue sermons. In it, the Apostle Paul outlined the good news of Jesus with the hope of reaching both Jews and Gentiles. Our aim on Sunday morning was to listen carefully to the gospel to be reminded of its power and purpose.

The church at Antioch was led by the Spirit to get on mission. As we review their story we look at how we might prepare our lives and our church to catch a similar vision for mission.

From the point of view of history, Acts 12 opens with the church looking like it is in big trouble. James is beheaded by Herod, Peter is arrested, and the church is in hiding. But behind the scenes, God is at work employing his angels to work all things together to advance the gospel. In this sermon we talk about how to have "a vertical mind in a horizontal world."

The elders in Jerusalem learned about the Gospel taking root in the pagan city of Antioch, and they sent Barnabas to build up the church. Barnabas, in turn, recruited Saul to teach the truth of the gospel to the new believers. In this message, Pastor Josh showed us how Barnabas and Saul set an example for us as we seek to minister within our culture today.

In a series of divine visions and directions, Peter goes to preach the gospel to Cornelius and his household. Cornelius was an uncircumcised Gentile and his conversion marked a transition in the church's mission to reach the world. In this week's sermon, we review the difficult transition of the church in reaching out to Gentiles and how it applies to our lives as we seek to engage our culture with the message of Christ.

Peter ventures out of his comfort zone to the coastal towns of Judea. As he does so he does mighty works and miracles including raising Tabitha from the dead. With the backdrop of this remarkable miracle, we look at what it means to walk in resurrection power as believers.

Saul the persecutor of Christians is transformed into a Christian who is persecuted. As we review the most famous conversion in Christian history, we seek to understand Christian conversion and its affects on a person’s life.
