Letters From Home - What Happened to You?
Whether or not we anticipate a letter from our loved ones at home usually depends on a couple of things. First, is whether or not we are away from home because we want to be or because we have to be. If we’re away on vacation or for leisure of some kind, we usually aren’t expecting, nor would cherish that deeply, a letter from home. Similarly, if we’re going to be away for a short or defined reasonable time frame, we wouldn’t tend to expect that as well. But, if we are away because we have to be, such as an extended work assignment, a military deployment, or incarceration for example, we anticipate and cherish those Letters From Home. Anything reminding of who we really are and where we’re from, something that takes us back to our roots and anchors us, is welcomed communication and not only makes our time away more bearable, but reminds us that it’s only temporary.
Over the next several weeks, we’re going to look at some letters that should take us back home again, letters that remind us of who we really are, that center us and that are designed to help us hit reset and experience renewal. They are from the 2nd and 3rd chapters of Revelation and have a great deal to say, whether we find ourselves close to home or away for one reason or another. And the best part is they are from the One who knows us best and wants the best for us. When you get a letter, either in your in box or your mail box, the first thing you do is to see who it’s from, right? That instantly prioritizes whether you open it first, last or somewhere in between and the sender in these letters should make us not just excited to see what He has to say but how He gets it across as well.
