Scripture: Daniel 1:8-21

The Reward of Jesus (Gen. 15:1-3) enables us to be obedient, to have a proper perspective and endure hardships.  Daniel and friends were able to be obedient to Christ, not because they were good guys, but because God was so good and so much their reward.  They were able to say no to the fleeting pleasures of the world, because they had pleasures that were out of this world and inherent in the Person of Jesus Christ.  We too, can be obedient and endure, whether in the exile of Babylon or  excitement of life when Jesus is our great reward.
