4/28/20 - In the midst of trials how do we keep up hope? The difference may lie in whether I look to my expectations which often lead to disappointment or I look to hope in God. How do you keep hope in the midst of challenges in life? 1 Peter 1:3-9 shows us who is the source of our living hope.

1 Peter 1:3-9

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith--more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire--may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

4/12/20 - Jesus' resurrection is the most powerful event that ever happened in history. Join us as we look at why the resurrection is so important to following Jesus and why, without it, following Jesus is pointless.

3/1/20 - We are a frantic culture. What once was 9 to 5 (9am to 5pm) became 7-11 (7am to 11pm) and is now 24/7. Sundays used to be a day where shops were closed. Now you can shop every day of the week around town and all hours of the day online. God intended for us to rest. In fact he created a day each week for us to rest - the Sabbath. The Sabbath has always been sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. As followers of Jesus we are not called to keep a legalistic, religious day of no work, but we are called to take a day to rest and be refreshed in the Lord. What's your rhythm of rest?

2/23/20 - The story of Acts is incredible in the midst of a brutal, oppressive government and a harsh, impoverished life for those in the first century Roman Empire. We read about bold Gospel preaching, supernatural healings, heavenly miracles, and gruesome trials, including shipwrecks, beatings, extreme opposition and stonings. In this midst of this dark climate, God uses ordinary men and women to bring light to the darkness. How does God want to use you as an ordinary man or woman to bring Jesus' light into the darkness around you?

2/16/20 - Why do you do what you do? Are you motivated by duty, guilt, expectation of others, tradition? Our true motivation should come from a willing heart - a heart that responds to God's grace, love and mercy with thanksgiving, devotion, love and zeal. God calls us to examine our motivation and make sure what we are doing is from a willing heart.

2/9/20 - Many people have heard about the Holy Spirit but how many followers of Jesus have a relationship with the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is one of the three persons of the Trinity (Father God, Jesus (Son), and Holy Spirit). The Holy Spirit wants to empower Jesus' followers to live lives like Jesus. 2/2/20 - When we are hard pressed in life, God wants us to know that there's not always a way out, but there's always a way through. The epic story of the Israelites exodus from Egypt shows us that God is capable of providing a way through, even when we can't see it.

1/26/20 - Emotions help us feel things about people; our minds help us know things about people. But neither fully allows us to know someone, that is, in a relational sense. Knowing someone goes beyond emotions and intellect, to spending time with someone and understanding their story, their heart, their mind, their dreams. That's what Jesus is asking us to do: to know him relationally. Not just to know things about him or feel things about him, but know him.

1/19/20 - If you've ever built anything, a fort, a treehouse, a snow castle, you know there has to be some sort of blueprint for what you're doing. That blueprint may not be on paper but in the imagination of the mind. To build something there has to be a vision first and construction second. This year we want to help you get some vision from God for building in 2020.

1/12/20 - What does Jesus ask his followers to do? Salvation is a free gift so we can't do anything to deserve that. But when we come to faith in Jesus, what we do to show Jesus we are following him? This is the most important question for the church as we seek to build what Jesus wants, not what we want or think we want. Are you building what Jesus wants?

MESSAGE NOTES:

Towel of Babel - Genesis 11:4 - “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.”
