In the politics of Jesus, to render to whatever Caesar is in power, while never turning from its obligations to God, is not antithetical to Christianity or holiness…in fact, it’s part of it!

Jesus tells a story illustrating God's reaching out to an indifferent, hostile, and dismissive humanity whom are living off everything that He is sovereign over. God offers us His Son so we can fully navigate His joy away from the consequences of our rebellion.

The elements in Holy Communion are not “just" symbols. They're “precisely” symbols that point to another reality. In fact, we actually participate in that other reality. Imagine?

Jesus’ authority, though questioned, can never be successfully disputed. He unveils the true motives of any religious elite who serve their own interests, reiterating that, "It is only those who actually obey God who are doing the will of the Father.” 

We find it hard to abandon our human scale of values, especially when comparing ourselves with others, and to accept the large–heartedness of God towards those we regard as undeserving. But in the kingdom of God, the principles of merit and ability can be set aside so that grace can prevail.

The foundation of all genuine mercifulness is receiving the mercy of cancelled transgression. We must have experienced it before we can extend it to others.  But we must extend it to others if we desire to continue to experience it.
