David, as great a man as he was with a strong heart for God still messed up - OOPS!  David's "oops" cost a man his life.  It seemed so unfair as death and trouble always does.  But David pushed through his harsh feelings toward God and discovered a more righteous, loving, just and gracious God than he had previously known.
