Why do we need to ask God to help us identify and remove our shortcomings? Aren't we already pretty aware of the stuff we need to work on?

This is a big, divise theological issue - so big that it was a key reason why the Protestant Reformation took place. Does God save us by grace alone or are we involved in our salvation? How does this relate to our becoming free from what holds us back from living the life we are created to live?

There is a significant connection between being open about our struggle with ourselves, God, and another person and healing out of it.

Step 4 - better than it first appears...

We are invited to follow Jesus in the Way that leads to life. That decision requires a surrender of our will in favor of God's. We're actually more accustomed to this idea of surrender than you might think. Note: Technical difficulties this week - a pretty good sized chunk of the first part of the teaching lost audio. So, to make it up to you, we're throwing in two songs from the worship service.

The first step of the Twelve Steps has to do with recognizing that we can't transform on our own power - we need help from the True Source to help us become our True Selves. Naming what's got its grip on us is part of realizing our powerlessness.

Jesus gave the disciples a Great Commission. What does that mean for us? It probably has a little something to do with our motto, Go Be Jesus. Could this be our brief mission statement as well?
