SERIES SUMMARY

We were made by God—to love Him, worship Him, obey Him, and rely completely on Him. But like the people in 1 Samuel, we often reject God's rule and clamor for something else—someone else—to lead us. In 1 Samuel, we see the rise and fall of kings, the longing for security, the failure of human leaders, and the ache for something more. Even Israel's best king couldn't deliver what only God could provide.

Through it all, God was preparing His people—not just for a better king, but for the true King. Jesus is the King of kings—perfect in obedience, humble in heart, righteous in judgment, and faithful in love. Every other king falls short of His glory. Our deepest need isn't just leadership or strength or success—it's King Jesus.

The King is coming. And His name is Jesus.

SERMON SUMMARY

 Throughout 1 Samuel the sovereignty and grace of GOD is on full display. Israel had a KING - GOD but they wanted a different one. So, GOD gave them what they wanted, one fallen and flawed human king after another...until JESUS came. JESUS is the perfect KING, the only faithful KING. Turn to and follow KING JESUS, we need more JESUS!

Life has many ups and downs and thus can be pretty unpredictable, so we need a sure foundation. JESUS is the KING of Kings and our sure foundation, nothing takes HIM by surprise or stops HIS will from being done. We need more and more JESUS!

Saul’s story in 1 Samuel 13–15 exposes the disobedience in our own hearts—we are like him in more ways than we’d like to admit. But where Saul failed, Jesus obeyed perfectly, and He is the coming King in whom we must place our hope, faith, and trust.

Saul was anointed and chosen King and yet hides when it comes time to be presented as King of Israel. JESUS is the King who never hides and yet was humble. Following KING JESUS is what we were made for HE alone is worthy of our worship and commitment.

Honoring GOD as your FATHER is to put HIM above everyone and everything in importance in your life. In 1 Samuel we see people doing that and also people not doing that. The consequences of not honoring GOD are severe and the blessings of honoring HIM are everlasting. Will it be More JESUS for you? The KING is Coming.
