The temple of God was built to be a house of prayer. When Jesus entered it and found men selling doves for sacrifice, and profit, He rebuked them. Our service to God is not an avenue for personal gain, but to help Him make gains in His kingdom.

John the Baptist was highly regarded by Jesus, and was chosen by God to prepare the way for the Messiah. Still, he was humble, willing to stand aside for Jesus. How might the world be different, be better, if we would have John's attitude?

Exodus 15 is a whole chapter devoted to a song of praise. The Israelites were celebrating their miraculous deliverance from Egyptian bondage, having been guided through the Red Sea passage. Only a couple of chapters later, however, we find those same Israelites complaining that they were better off in Egypt, that God had led them into the desert to kill them. What happened? These people forgot what God had done for them and lost their victory. Let us never forget what God has done for us - let us Hold On to the Victory!

Obedience does not present itself as a wagging finger - God forcing us into line with His will because we must serve Him. Rather, we benefit and our lives are more blessed when we are obedient.

Jesus came to Earth with one mission: to save our souls from Hell. He chose not to do it alone - He enables us, through an outpouring of His Spirit - to help Him in this work. Our calling in this life is to minister - to preach, teach, witness, pray, heal...
