Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada – Dominion 6.9 (2018)

This is the one. The grand finale. The culmination of two years of storytelling and one of the most legendary rivalries ever.
Okada vs Omega IV is a 2-out-of-3 falls match for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. No time limit. No excuses. This was Omega’s last shot after failing three times before. Okada had just broken the record for the longest title reign in New Japan history. Everything about this felt massive.
We break down every fall, every shift in momentum, and every emotional beat. This was more than just a match  it was the end of an era. Emily went into this match knowing the history now, and watching her take it all in for the first time was a blast. Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada – G1 Climax 27 (2017)

Everything changes in part three.
Okada and Omega face off in the G1, but this time it’s not for the title  it’s about tournament points and proving a point. The time limit is shorter, the pace is faster, and Kenny comes in with the mindset that he has to beat Okada. It’s the first time he gets the job done, and he does it in under 30 minutes. We talk about how this match felt more explosive from the jump, how the previous two matches built the tension for this one, and what it meant for Omega to finally get that win. Emily wasn’t expecting it to go that fast or be that different from the first two, and her reaction to the quick momentum swings is gold.

It’s Omega vs Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 11. This was Kenny’s first shot at the big one after winning the G1 in 2016 and moving up to heavyweight. Okada was already established as the guy in New Japan, the standard bearer.The expectations were high and somehow they went above and beyond. This was the match that introduced a lot of Western fans to modern NJPW. We talk about what made this match such a moment in time and how wild it was to see Omega risk it all on the biggest stage.
