  • The Bright Side of Private Online Marketplaces
When people think about private online marketplaces, they tend to think of people doing bad things. After-all, why do you want privacy if you're up to something good? But there's more to privacy than that.
Join Dr. Kapil Amarasinghe and I as we discuss use cases for private marketplaces, ecommerce, plus hear his opinion on Bitcoin's current trajectory as a digital currency.

  • Crypto Predictions! – Interviewing Crypto, Bitcoin, and Blockchain Enthusiasts (3/3)
The final question is what happens next? Here's what crypto and blockchain conference attendees had to say about where blockchain adoption is going and how high Bitcoin's price might go.
Some of my favourite quotes include:
"Allowing people to, you know, securitize data to the blockchain, to access things that they can get only exclusively through the blockchain. And to do that in a manner where people already are. We need to meet people where they are."
Who is this guy??? Does anyone know. He's the most well spoken person in this video series. I have no idea who he is. I lost the footage where we exchanged contacts and also didn't have it in my cards. If anyone knows, I'd love to find out. I think he's from the san fran area.
"The way I see cryptocurrencies evolving is a bit different than everyone else. I think it's going to be like Linux. It's gonna be this backbone to this financial system everybody can use and access. I don't think most peopel are gonna realize they're actually using a cryptocurrency. "
I think it's too early to even talk about adoption"

  • Advice for Crypto Newcomers – Interviewing Crypto, Bitcoin, and Blockchain Enthusiasts (2/3)
"The best place I can advise to anyone to start would be with the Bitcoin white paper. It's only 8 pages long. And you can understand blockchain with that one document. It will teach you everything you need to know. It is vanilla blockchain in its most simple form."
The Magical Crypto Conference (MCC) and Consensus 2019 were held in NYC in May. MCC had a focus on the tech and development, and was distinctly different from Consensus' more corporate feel. I had a good time and met many people!

  • A Deeper Look at Privacy in Crypto
What are the criteria for a good privacy coin? Is actual privacy about theory or about experience and anonymity sets?
An interesting discussion on privacy coins with a Dash enthusiast and an independent cryptographic researcher. We go over some issues they take with my book (http://cryptoramble.com/guide), and talk about comparing privacy coins.
00:00 The conversation starts a bit slow and meta
17:02 James joins in to discuss the meat of the matter, comparing privacy coins and a specific focus on anonymity sets
53:05 The conversation steers towards one of my favourite topics - adoption!
Here are some links that James provided me with re the claims on anonymity sets:
    - First a tweet by Vitalik Buterin on issues with Monero's anonymity set: https://www.ccn.com/vitalik-buterin-eyes-research-on-privacy-coin-moneros-traceability/
    - Vitalik was responding to a Professory Emin Gun Sirer of Cornell: https://twitter.com/el33th4xor/status/1126897314352779264
But the response from the Monero community seemed mostly hostile.
    - This link shows the importance of anonymity sets when it comes to communication networks like TOR. http://dedis.cs.yale.edu/dissent/papers/provpriv12.pdf
    - And this Zcoin page talks about some anonymity sets of privacy coins: https://zcoin.io/what-is-sigma-and-why-is-it-replacing-zerocoin-in-zcoin/
As I say in the video, I now have a better understanding of how people measure the effectiveness of privacy in privacy coins, with a focus on the 'noise' vs the 'theory'.
It was also new to me to learn about cryptography vs steganography. I had never even heard the word steganography before, and it sounds a bit like stenography.
I apologise for not having better audio.
    Thanks for listening!
